X-ray vision remote software can be downloaded from www.x10.com and used to view your camera images from anywhere via an internet connection. Just enter your home computer's IP address, type in your password and you are able to see the images from the remote camera ( updated every 10 seconds to 2 minutes).
"This software will control what you want, when you want…very logical setup" ... Mr. Spock. ... you can have events announce themselves via text to speech as well as send commands using voice recognition. In addition, there is a web interface that can be controlled remotely via web pages ... you see pretty much the same interface ... very neat add on!
Using WSH and the Slinkx control, I was able to map a single button on my X10 RF remote to gradually dim all the lights in my living room, turn off the aquarium pump (loud!), turn on the TV, receiver, and DVD player, and set the inputs on the TV and reciver, and finally open the DVD tray. Watching a DVD became as easy as slapping a disc in and hitting play.
For example, you can sit back in your chair and click one button on your remote to open your web browser. Now relax and navigate around using the remote to scroll etc. This unit would be good for remote operation while giving a presentation with PowerPoint as well.
Use the Internet configuration to set up your system so HAL can go and get traffic reports, stock quotations, TV listings etc. This feature sets HAL apart from the others and I'm sure we'll see more options in the future. Just ask for a weather report and HAL reads it back to you (in a clear voice) from data it retrieved from the internet ... WOW!
