The Department of Neurological Surgery at UCSF treat’s patients with neurosurgical disorders on a daily basis. This center staff’s some of the leading physicians and scientists in the field of neurosurgical. The center works tremendously hard searching for new cures and therapy methods. With a dedicated faculty, and supporters, and patients, it is no wonder that the UCSF Department of Neurological Surgery at UCSF is one of the top ranked facilities in the world.
The Brain and Spinal Injury Center at USCF wanted to implement an AV system for their conference room. With this particular goal in mind, the center chose “Mr. Home Theater” as there AV installer. With over ten years experience in the AV industry, Zayed Mhimla was more than qualified to take on this application. From flat panel installs, to complex AV systems, “Mr. Home Theater” produces top notch installs on a daily basis.
Mr. Mhimla had the task of developing an AV system that needed to distribute a Local PC source, and 2 open ports to 3 different displays. One of the displays would be in the reception area, and the other two in the conference area. The key was reliability, but also Mr.Mhimla focused on not compromising the quality of a video signal the system would produced. After researching many AV manufactures, “Mr. Home Theater”, chose ATLONA Technology.

ATLONA’s long line of solutions allowed “Mr. Home Theater” to choose from many AV solutions to implement in this system. The AT-HD-V44M is the main unit the brain of the whole setup. This is a highly advance 4 by 4 HDMI matrix switcher. The 1 local PC is connected as with 2 AT-HD500’s. The Atlona AT-HD500 is designed to take video signal from PC or Laptop and upscale it to digital HDMI output of wide-range HDTV and PC resolutions, up to 1080p or WUXGA (1920×1200).
The HD500s VGA inputs are connected to 2 VGA cables with audio attached to the conference room table. This allows the user at any moment to use up to 2 laptops in the conference room. The content can be passed to the 3 displays by using the brain of the operation the matrix unit AT-HDV44M.
After all this was done, the signals had to be extended to 3 different locations ranging from 50-80ft distances. Mr. Mhimla chose the ATLONA AT-HD-V40SRS. ATLONA’S single cat5/6 HDMI extender solution was the perfect fit to extend the HDMI in this AV system. All signals were run up to 1080p resolution on the displays in this AV application.

The Atlona AT-HD500 is designed to take video signal from PC or Laptop and upscale it to digital HDMI output of wide-range HDTV and PC resolutions, up to 1080p or WUXGA (1920×1200).
The Atlona AT-HD-V40SRS is a perfect solution for those who need to extend HDMI signal for a long distance over a single low cost cat5 or cat6 cable. The Atlona HDMI Extenders can handle HDMI 1.3 standard and high resolutions up to 1080p at up to 110ft and 1080i up to 200ft.
