Bridgeport CT's Intelligent Audio Products Factory Celebrates First Anniversary With New Product Releases
The Former Manufacturing Site of Adrian Acoustics and Alta Audio Now Making New PlanterSpeakers, High End Alta Speakers and New Indoor Models
Bridgeport, CT - March 2018 — Intelligent Audio Products, Inc., parent of PlanterSpeakers, is celebrating its first year of factory operations in Connecticut by launching its first new planter speaker of the upcoming outdoor audio season, expanding production of its new Pedestal indoor speaker, and delivering large first runs of high-end Alta Speakers and VPI turntable bases.
"Our Bridgeport factory has been revving up!," said IAP president Art Powers. "During an exciting first year, we've been able to simultaneously serve customers for our proprietary PlanterSpeakers products while developing new models and at the same time serving the OEM speaker cabinet and audio-video manufacturing industries. And, we're just getting started."
IAP's PlanterSpeakers customizable line of speakers housed in architectural planters continues to develop with the new North Dakota speaker for 2018, which shares the same extraordinary speaker array with PlanterSpeakers Piermont, Flagstone, Lattice and Metropolitan models. Created with high grade North American cedar, the North Dakota can be finished to maintain its rich, natural wood grain, or to weather and blend with silver grey decks and other outdoor furniture.
IAP's new color-customizable Pedestal is the company's wireless indoor speaker that can either be powered by an onboard Sonos amplifier or a custom designed Madison Fielding amp," said Powers. Configured with either an 8" or 10" woofer, and from 50 to 250 watts RMS per channel power handling, the Pedestal is a stereo speaker but can also be arrayed as a pair. It blends into a variety of decorating motifs, and is the perfect support for sculpture, flowers and plants. The Pedestal features deep bass, crisp highs and lush mid-range sounds that float from an architectural structure that beautifully enhances home and commercial design.
IAP has also taken on a new project for VPI Industries of New Jersey, producing beautiful rosewood bases for VPI's high-end Prime Signature turntables. The Prime Signature is the latest in VPI's Prime line, which features an upgraded JMW 3D-10 Reference arm in a "metallic black" gloss finish with Nordost Reference wire. The chassis consists of an aluminum plate sandwiched between faux rosewood veneer composite plinths for improved dampening and its reviews are truly extraordinary.
"Our heritage is in speakers and amplifiers," said Powers, who also co-created the Madison Fielding amplifier business with his father, "but we're making premium turntables, acoustic panels and are continuing to innovate for some of the best names in the business. Our focus is now to offer our manufacturing capacity to those brands looking for well-priced, U.S. made products in a factory that has the right controls, and run by craftsman who guarantee quality."
