21st-annual CONNECTIONS Conference, May 23-25 in San Francisco, to examine Wi-Fi strategies for the connected home

DALLAS, May 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- New research from Parks Associates shows that more than 75% of U.S. broadband households use Wi-Fi for connectivity in the home and 50% use 3G/4G services. The international research firm will examine strategies to build value from the growing number of connections in the home at the 21st-annual CONNECTIONS™: The Premier Connected Home Conference on May 23-25, 2017, in San Francisco.

"Wi-Fi is synonymous with Internet for many consumers today," said Harry Wang, Senior Director of Research, Parks Associates. "With a growing number of consumer electronics connecting to home Wi-Fi and portable Wi-Fi hotspots powered by a device accessing 3G/4G mobile networks, the Wi-Fi network is playing a significant role in supporting consumer digital lifestyle and home-centric IoT applications."

Parks Associates and industry-leading executives will address Wi-Fi strategies for the connected home during the session, "Wi-Fi Connectivity, and High-Speed Data in the Connected Home" at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, May 25. The session will look at opportunities to expand entertainment, broadband, and smart home offerings by leveraging each node in the home's network. Speakers will also discuss strategies to build value for the growing number of connections in the home, including service profiles of U.S. broadband households and the role for each device type. The panel, which will be moderated by Harry Wang, includes the following speakers:

Rob Conant, CEO, Cirrent
Justin Doucette, Senior Director, Product Management, Linksys & Wemo, Belkin International
Sanjay Noronha, Product Manager for Wireless and Networking, Google
Phil Pyo, Sr. Director Product Marketing, NETGEAR
Bruce Wright, Business Development Director, Americas Business Unit, AirTies Wireless Networks
"At Linksys, we know that Wi-Fi is a critical utility in today's home and essential for enjoying the benefits of a smart home," said Justin Doucette, Senior Director, Product Management, Linksys & Wemo, Belkin International. "Many people don't believe they live in a smart home, but if they stream video from Netflix or online game with kids, then they are leveraging connectivity to improve their quality of life. Entertainment is the primary need for great Wi-Fi as laptops, tablets, and smartphones have evolved from productivity devices to entertainment devices. Smart TVs, gaming consoles, and streaming media players are now commonplace in most homes. Now, convenience and security needs are helping items like smart lighting, thermostats, and IP cameras to enter the home. All of these devices will become more and more a part of our everyday lives and the need for a robust and seamless Wi-Fi connection will only grow in the future."

Parks Associates will also host two pre-show workshops on May 23, led by the firm's senior IoT analysts, on the following topics:

Smart Home and IoT: Growth, Consumer Trends
Connected Health and IoT: Technology Innovators and Disruptions
