Shaquille O’Neal and Ring Launch Year-Long Campaign to Donate $1 Million of Ring Security Devices to Neighborhoods Across the Country

On May 5, Ring and Shaq will install Ring Doorbells and Floodlight Cams on homes in Georgia while driving awareness about neighborhood safety throughout Shaq’s home state.

JONESBORO, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ring, the leader in outdoor home security, and Shaquille O'Neal today announced a partnership to reduce neighborhood crime. Over the course of the next year, Ring and Shaquille will donate $1 million worth of Ring security devices to neighborhoods across the country. To kick off the partnership, they will be working with the sheriff's department in Clayton County, Georgia, to install Ring Doorbells and Floodlight Cams on homes in a Jonesboro neighborhood today and create awareness about neighborhood safety.

Ring is on a mission to reduce crime in neighborhoods around the world with its suite of smart home security devices: Ring Video Doorbell, Ring Video Doorbell Pro, Ring Stick Up Cam and the new Ring Floodlight Cam. These devices enable users to monitor and proactively protect their homes via their smartphone, tablet or computer.

"I grew up in a tough neighborhood and saw my fair share of crime; our neighborhoods need to be safer," O'Neal said. "As a deputy police officer and a Ring customer, I'm excited to partner with the Ring team to further their noble mission of reducing neighborhood crime."

Jamie Siminoff, founder and chief inventor of Ring, said: "We are excited to welcome Shaq to the Ring team. As a member of the police force since 2005, Shaq truly embodies the Ring spirit. Working with Ring, Shaquille can share his passion for protecting neighbors. Furthermore, he is a Ring customer, which we call a ‘Ring Neighbor,' so he understands the value of our proactive home security devices and believes in our mission. We are excited to kick off our year-long donation campaign here in Georgia, and we look forward to working closely with him to spread awareness of neighborhood safety and educate homeowners on how to better secure their homes."

With Ring, homeowners can keep an eye on their property whether they are at home, at work, or out of the country. Users are alerted when the doorbell or security camera's motion sensors detect movement or someone rings the doorbell. They can then see and speak to whoever is at their door via their chosen device, creating the illusion that they are home, even if they are not. In fact, one Los Angeles neighborhood saw a 55 percent decrease in break-ins after Ring Doorbells were installed. Ring devices have prevented countless burglaries and package thefts across the country and continue to assist police departments in identifying suspects of home break-ins.
