CEDIA LAUNCHES VIDEO GUIDE TO SMART HOME WIRING

CEDIA’s Guide to Smart Home Wiring looks at how technology is an integral part of a typical family’s lifestyle in today’s home.

CEDIA (the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association) has produced a new video Guide to Smart Home Wiring which introduces consumers, builders and design professionals to the benefits that a properly designed and installed cabling infrastructure can provide in homes today.

"We all dream of living in a comfortable, secure and energy efficient home," says Matt Nimmons, CEDIA EMEA's Operations Director. "The reality is that technology can now be seamlessly integrated and controlled to deliver these benefits to us all. By following the Best Practice advice within CEDIA's Smart Home Recommended Wiring Guidelines, this video shows how the right cabling infrastructure is an essential requirement for the internet-connected smart home."

CEDIA's Guide to Smart Home Wiring looks at how technology is an integral part of a typical family's lifestyle in today's home. It then explains how the right wiring infrastructure can manage and distribute audio-visual, lighting, heating, security and other data hungry services effectively within a property whilst, at the same time, helping to minimise electronic box and cable clutter in the home.

CEDIA's Smart Home Recommended Wiring Guidelines is an informative, practical step-by-step guide for anyone interested in home design, building or renovation. Through a clearly defined, staged process and using explanatory diagrams, it outlines the services people are increasingly dependent on if they are to enjoy life at home and the planning, cabling and testing essentials which should be followed. Visit www.cedia.org/recommended-wiring-guidelines to download a copy. For CEDIA members keen to embed the video on their own website, please contact CEDIA for details.

Filmed at The Potton Self Build Show Centre, near Cambridge, CEDIA's Guide to Smart Home Wiring showcases an installation carried out by CEDIA member, thinkingbricks, the preferred home technology consultant and contractor for Potton. The video features products supplied by a range of brands and manufacturers and CEDIA wishes to thank all those who participated in the production of the video for their generous support.

ELK Products -C1M1 Dual-Path Alarm Communicators with Remote Services

C1M1 offers a truly significant reduction in transmission time in comparison to other communicators that rely on dial capture or data bus decoding. This can result in quicker response time to emergency situations which could save lives and assets. By providing both IP and cellular pathways, C1M1 provides the reliability installers are looking for in an alarm communicator. C1M1 eliminates port forwarding and extra fees for remote access. Installers can remotely upload/download programming changes to M1 controls over IP or cellular using ElkRP2. Consumers can control the M1 remotely via the free ElkLink mobile app and web portal, as well as eKeypad and M1 Touch Pro apps. Other IP-based software and interface partners can connect to the M1 control over the local network through C1M1. C1M1 also provides email/text notifications for arm, disarm, and alarm events. ELK-C1M14GSM supports GSM (AT&T/T-Mobile) networks and ELK-C1M1CDMA supports CDMA (Verizon) networks.
