CEDIA has announced its popular Connect with CEDIA networking event is taking place at the Shaka Zulu Restaurant in Camden on Wednesday 24thSeptember 2014 from 6pm - 9pm.

"Connect with CEDIA represents an important networking forum" says Wendy Griffiths, Executive Director at CEDIA. "We welcome all professionals working in the smart home industry and feel that it is a great opportunity to discuss recent developments with the association and the industry as a whole. We are expecting a great turn out to the London event and look forward to active industry discussions."

A new addition to the London event is a round table discussion, which will focus on 'The State of the Industry'. This open forum is a platform for industry professionals to debate new developments within the custom installation sector. With Nest, Apple's HomeKit and the Internet of Things still dominating the headlines, these topics will be on the table for discussion. CEDIA encourages participants to take part in this session, as it will provide the association with a great insight into the industry's views and opinions. The round table will be held prior to the networking session between 4-6pm.

Connect with CEDIA was initially launched in 2011 to provide a vibrant and popular networking platform and since then has gone from strength to strength and is now an invaluable event for the industry. So far this year CEDIA has hosted five Connect with CEDIA events across the UK in Bristol, Manchester, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Leeds. All occasions have been a great success allowing, prospective and existing members to discuss industry issues and find out how CEDIA membership can add value to their businesses.

The event will be a relaxed affair and part of CEDIA's commitment to broaden access to members and improve the flow of communication. It will also be a great opportunity to network with your peers.

Universal Robots - Collaborative Robot Solutions

Universal Robots is a result of many years of intensive research in robotics. The product portfolio includes the UR5 and UR10 models that handle payloads of up to 11.3 lbs. and 22.6 lbs. respectively. The six-axis robot arms weigh as little as 40 lbs. with reach capabilities of up to 51 inches. Repeatability of +/- .004" allows quick precision handling of even microscopically small parts. After initial risk assessment, the collaborative Universal Robots can operate alongside human operators without cumbersome and expensive safety guarding. This makes it simple and easy to move the light-weight robot around the production, addressing the needs of agile manufacturing even within small- and medium sized companies regarding automation as costly and complex. If the robots come into contact with an employee, the built-in force control limits the forces at contact, adhering to the current safety requirements on force and torque limitations. Intuitively programmed by non-technical users, the robot arms go from box to operation in less than an hour, and typically pay for themselves within 195 days. Since the first UR robot entered the market in 2009, the company has seen substantial growth with the robotic arms now being sold in more than 50 countries worldwide.
