BenQ W1070 Home Entertainment Projector Recognized With Projector Review's 2013 Best in Class Award

Budget Projector Ranks Best in Class for Entry Level Projectors Under $2000; Offers Best Value Proposition in the 3D and 2D Projector Category

IRVINE, Calif. -- April 24, 2013 -- BenQ America Corp., an internationally renowned provider of digital lifestyle innovations and global DLP(R) projector leader, today announced that it has been recognized with a 2013 Best in Class Award in the "3D and 2D: Best Value Proposition" category for its W1070 home entertainment projector. The award was presented by, a leading A/V resource for projector ratings and advice.

Made for consumers seeking full HD 1080p 3D projection and complete connectivity within today's media-rich home entertainment settings, the W1070 uses the high-end DLP Dark Chip 3 to deliver a balance of value and performance at a price-defying $1,099 MSRP. The projector also features a 10,000:1 contrast ratio for stunningly vivid images, built-in 10-watt stereo speakers, and support for Blu-ray(TM) players, gaming consoles, and PCs.

"This value award proves once again that our W1070 is redefining the home entertainment projector marketplace," said Lars Yoder, President of BenQ America Corp. "By loading the device with outstanding performance capabilities at an affordable price, we are giving customers access to the best in home entertainment at a lower total cost of ownership. We are honored to receive this important distinction and will continue to bring forward-thinking technology that balances value and performance."

To further reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) of the projector, BenQ has integrated its industry-leading SmartEco(TM) technology for longer lamp life in its new home entertainment models. In "SmartEco" mode, the projector automatically adjusts lamp power to maximize power savings by delivering the best contrast and brightness performance using only as much light as needed. Reducing power consumption, a "no source detected" mode automatically lowers brightness to 30 percent when no display has been detected for more than three minutes. In the "Eco Blank" mode, the projector is capable of power savings up to 70 percent. In addition, the W1070 does not have any filter to clean or replace, which further reduces the device's TCO.

To simplify installation, the W1070 offers lens shift capabilities which facilitate projector placement in any type of setting, especially for ceiling-mounted scenarios. Setup is made even easier with the projector's "out of the box" calibration, enabling customers to enjoy the best in picture quality immediately without the need to adjust any of the projector's settings. The W1070 is built small and portable, and supports the latest formats and standards such as NVIDIA(R), 3DTV Play(TM), DLP Link(TM), and dual HDMI(R) for full entertainment flexibility.
