New Ways to Learn, Even Better Ways to Save: InfoComm Announces New Membership Structure

Simplified Member and Affiliate status widens accessibility to benefits and credentials

FAIRFAX, Virginia, United States of America - 4 January, 2013 - As of 1 January 2013, InfoComm International® is offering a brand new and simplified membership structure in the form of Member and Affiliate membership categories.

"It's exciting times. With the new simplified membership structure, we're increasing the value for all our members," says Terry Friesenborg, Senior VP of International Development at InfoComm International. "By lowering most Members' dues, narrowing down memberships to two categories, and making many member benefits available on an unlimited basis, more professionals will be able to take advantage of InfoComm training, certification and networking opportunities. Being a member has never been easier."

The benefit of holding Member status is the ability to take advantage of the CAVSP programme, voting rights, steering committee opportunities and a basic AV-iQ catalogue listing putting Members squarely on the map.

Both Member and Affiliate holders will be eligible to receive free online and discounted classroom training and certification, free InfoComm standards and select market research, along with free access to the InfoComm community and networking events such as roundtables and trade shows around the world.

Boosting its educational offering, InfoComm has introduced four online classes including: Quick Start, Essentials of the AV Industry, the AV Technologist Test, and a new CTS Prep Online course. Companies and organisations with memberships will be able to train an unlimited number of personnel through these programmes at no additional charge. Affiliates can train themselves.

With the new system, current holders of Associate membership will automatically become Affiliate members.

Historically, InfoComm International has had multiple categories of membership and various levels. As part of the simplified membership and its increase in value, the EduBucks system is being phased out at the end of 2012 and will be replaced by a discount programme for education exceeding the value of the current programme for most members.

The new pricing as of 1 January 2013 is as follows:

Euros

ELK Products -C1M1 Dual-Path Alarm Communicators with Remote Services

C1M1 offers a truly significant reduction in transmission time in comparison to other communicators that rely on dial capture or data bus decoding. This can result in quicker response time to emergency situations which could save lives and assets. By providing both IP and cellular pathways, C1M1 provides the reliability installers are looking for in an alarm communicator. C1M1 eliminates port forwarding and extra fees for remote access. Installers can remotely upload/download programming changes to M1 controls over IP or cellular using ElkRP2. Consumers can control the M1 remotely via the free ElkLink mobile app and web portal, as well as eKeypad and M1 Touch Pro apps. Other IP-based software and interface partners can connect to the M1 control over the local network through C1M1. C1M1 also provides email/text notifications for arm, disarm, and alarm events. ELK-C1M14GSM supports GSM (AT&T/T-Mobile) networks and ELK-C1M1CDMA supports CDMA (Verizon) networks.
