Each month, Audiofly will spotlight a world-class musician and give readers a glimpse into their background and current happenings. The company will highlight talented artists from fresh new indie bands to emerging jazz artists complete with free music tracks for web visitors to get to know them better. For this month Audiofly is offering two tracks from Troy Roberts - Mademfalselle and Brotherlation.
"This is our chance to support musicians we think are utterly outstanding. Each month we'll introduce you to a new artist and chances are you won't know them, but this gives you a chance to become an ardent admirer. Not only do we make headphones, we also want to do our bit to help the talented indie musicians around the world that deserve to be known," commented Dave Thompson, CEO of Audiofly.
Currently based in NYC, award winning Australian saxophonist Troy Roberts has toured the world with Australian jazz multi-instrumentalist James Morrison. He completed a Master's Degree at The University of Miami, and has shared stage with John Clayton, Jeff Hamilton, Slide Hampton, Lew Soloff, Bobby Sparks and Stephen Scott to name a few.
Roberts received a Grammy Nomination medal for his performance on Sammy Figueroa's "The Magician", and was the only Australian finalist in the 2008 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Sax Comp. He also represented Australia for Herbie Hancock's launch of the first International Jazz Day (United Nations, NYC) alongside Wayne Shorter, Richard Bona, Vinnie Colaiuta and Zakir Hussein. Roberts has been on the faculty at The University of Miami for the past three years and continues to maintain a busy performance and recording schedule around the globe.
Roberts is about to release his fifth record, Nu-Jive Five, which is the second Nu-Jive group album. An eclectic concoction of soul, funk, R&B, Latin, gospel, Indian classical music, and even glimpses of the 19th century romantic period - all musically glued together by each player's personal sense of jazz etiquette.
