Absence of Cylinder Means Improved Security, Easier Installs
INDIANAPOLIS, IND, September 6, 2012 - Following the successful debut of the Yale Real Living™ deadbolt in 2011, Yale Locks & Hardware (www.yalerealliving.com), an ASSA ABLOY Group company and a world leader in door hardware for residential and commercial applications, has announced the addition of the Yale Real Living cylinderless deadbolt, expanding its line of locks specifically designed to integrate seamlessly into the digital home.
Yale will showcase the new lock in the Z-Wave booth (#1343) and the Control4 booth (#4949) at the CEDIA Expo, September 5-8, 2012 in Indianapolis.
The cylinderless aspect of the Yale Real Living lock provides a significant increase in security as it eliminates the most vulnerable part of the lock. The absence of the cylinder means that lock picking or bumping are virtually impossible. What's more, it translates to a "clean" appearance, creating another attractive design option in the Yale Real Living portfolio of home control and security solutions.
Currently all major brands of residential electronic deadbolts have a mechanical key override that adds complexity to the installation and require the keys to be managed. By introducing an electronic residential deadbolt with no key override and a capacitive touch pad interface, key management is eliminated and installation is simplified.
The product concept has already been extremely well-received by service providers in the home control space, as it provides a way to increase the operational efficiency of install teams - especially since there is no keying involved.
Yale Real Living Introduces Cylinderless Lock / 2
The new cylinderless locks come with a durable, acrylic touchscreen that is both easy-to-use and aesthetically pleasing. Unlike other intelligent locks available on the market, the Yale Real Living locks, which support both Z-Wave® and ZigBee®, were designed with the digital home in mind.
"Our cylinderless lock demonstrates our commitment to product innovation, enhanced security and improved aesthetics," said Jason Williams, General Manager of Yale Residential. "It also shows our commitment to the dealer market, by providing a product that increases their efficiency and helps them provide a better customer experience."
Regardless of the security system employed, users will have access to a high degree of functionality, including the ability to lock and unlock doors from web-enabled devices or create customized entry scenes for family members, neighbors and guests. Yale locks have a modular design allowing them to integrate seamlessly into a wide range of security and home control systems, including Alarm.com's emPower™, 2Gig, Honeywell, Control4, and the Vera Z-Wave® home control system by Mi Casa Verde, among others
The locks will be available from a number of sources, including:
