Movea Announces SmartMotion™ Developer Kit for Motion-Enabled TVs

Movea's Developer Kit brings Powerful SmartMotion Features to Interactive TV Ecosystem Players

AMSTERDAM--Movea announced today the availability of its SmartMotion developer kit for interactive TVs at IBC 2012. The developer kit gives app developers, middleware vendors and service providers the ability to differentiate their offerings through exciting new motion-based features that dramatically enhance the user experience while adding value for PayTV ecosystem partners and consumers alike. SmartMotion developer kits are now available to Movea partners and will be made available to the public in Q1 of 2013.

The SmartMotion developer kit enables application developers, UI engineers and middleware vendors to access next-generation motion technology for developing compelling motion-based applications via Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) not otherwise available on TVs and set-top boxes (STBs). Developers will be able to easily access Movea's SmartMotion Server to leverage features such as in-air pointing, gesture recognition, single axis rotations and 3D orientation to develop immersive motion gaming, point-and-click navigation, EasyScroll™ though large program guides, gesture-based UI controls and more.

The role of Smart TVs has expanded dramatically and the ecosystem needs tools to help develop the new features and user experiences that consumers are coming to expect. Fredrik Andersson, Accedo's VP of Business Development explains, "As the market-leading enabler of TV application solutions, Accedo is always looking for ways to deliver more value and a better next-generation TV experience to consumers. The SmartMotion developer kit helps us deliver on both these objectives by providing a fast and easy path to bring groundbreaking motion technologies to the home, effectively changing how we enjoy and consume media. Accedo has always been an innovator, and we're pleased to be working with a company like Movea who shares our vision of what Smart TV can be."

"The motion technologies that will enable a new user experience for Smart TV are here now, but our ecosystem partners need the tools to integrate and deploy these new capabilities," said Bryan Hoadley, EVP of Worldwide Sales and Marketing for Movea. "With the SmartMotion developer kit, the Smart TV ecosystem now will be able to provide consumers with a more natural and immersive TV experience. We're delighted to be working with a market leader like Accedo who understands that motion technologies create dramatically enhanced experiences and new revenue opportunities for the interactive service platforms that our Smart TVs and set-top boxes are quickly becoming."

Movea's SmartMotion developer kit offers a sound architecture as well as a simple design and implementation process to enable seamless integration of motion functions in applications simply through the provided API. Developers are now able to use the provided gesture libraries, orientation module as well as raw dX and dY raw data to integrate into their applications. It supports C and C++ languages and provides a sample code with IDE project files that enable faster time to market for application development. Additionally, developers can easily register services, making development and deployment much simpler and more flexible.

The SmartMotion developer kit includes:

*Installer for Linux

*SmartMotion Server Instance

*Concrete and working code examples
**C++ projects: configurator and listener
**JSON CPP lib & Qt lib required by samples

Documentation: Developer Kit Quick Start Guide, complete JSON API html documentation, SMS Technical Specification

ELK Products -C1M1 Dual-Path Alarm Communicators with Remote Services

C1M1 offers a truly significant reduction in transmission time in comparison to other communicators that rely on dial capture or data bus decoding. This can result in quicker response time to emergency situations which could save lives and assets. By providing both IP and cellular pathways, C1M1 provides the reliability installers are looking for in an alarm communicator. C1M1 eliminates port forwarding and extra fees for remote access. Installers can remotely upload/download programming changes to M1 controls over IP or cellular using ElkRP2. Consumers can control the M1 remotely via the free ElkLink mobile app and web portal, as well as eKeypad and M1 Touch Pro apps. Other IP-based software and interface partners can connect to the M1 control over the local network through C1M1. C1M1 also provides email/text notifications for arm, disarm, and alarm events. ELK-C1M14GSM supports GSM (AT&T/T-Mobile) networks and ELK-C1M1CDMA supports CDMA (Verizon) networks.
