"The response to our PlayTime line has been very strong," said Jon Grodem, Optoma's
senior director of product and marketing, "and we're expecting that the PT105's increased power and connectivity, coupled with its affordable price, will appeal to a lot of consumers."

According to Grodem, the WVGA resolution (854x480 pixels) PT105 is designed to deliver a big image and low cost. Delivering a contrast ratio of 1000:1 from its 7.8" x 3.2" x 7.8" (WxHxD) dimensions, it utilizes an efficient, economical LED light source that has a lifespan of over 20,000 hours and projects images from 10" to 140" diagonally in a widescreen 16:9 format, which is popular for video games and movies. A built -in 1.5 -watt speaker delivers ample sound for a self -contained entertainment system, while an audio -in input allows for connection to an external audio system.

Said Grodem, "Optoma has been the driving force in what some analysts are calling 'new era' projectors - these use new illumination technologies to provide good image quality with as little lumens as 500 lumens or below. We've felt for some time that it was important to lower the entry barrier for new users, and with products like our PlayTime and Pico projectors, we're proving it."
