Lutron Now Offers Direct Integration between its RadioRA® 2 Total Home Control System and Leading Home Security Panels

Coopersburg, PA (September 7, 2011) - An enhanced, more secure home environment is now just a button press away. Lighting control manufacturer Lutron Electronics today announced that its RadioRA 2 total home control system can now be directly integrated to industry-leading security panels. Homeowners can arm their security system and control lights, shades, temperature and plug-in devices - all from the convenience of their security keypads.

Pressing the Away button on the security keypad, for example, will arm the security system, activate the RadioRA 2 Away scene to save energy, and turn programmed lights on and off to give the home a lived-in appearance. Additionally, if an alarm is triggered or a panic button on the security keypad is pressed, the RadioRA 2 system can raise all shades, lock interior lights to full bright and flash exterior lights alerting authorities.

"Integrating RadioRA 2 with a security system offers the homeowner benefits they will use and enjoy every day," said Jeremy Kleinberg, Lutron's RadioRA 2 product manager. "RadioRA 2 provides an enhanced security environment plus the added benefits of total home control while saving energy."

RadioRA 2 offers convenient, one-button control of lights, shades, temperature, and small appliances, offering enhanced energy savings throughout the home. Pressing the goodnight button, for example, could turn off all interior lights, lower all the shades, turn off energy-hogging devices like AV equipment, monitors and plug-in fans, plus adjust the temperature by five degrees. The system controls 60%* or more of a home's energy use, including lights, shades, stand-by power from small appliances and temperature.

RadioRA 2 is scalable to 200 devices, operates via Lutron's Clear Connect™ wireless, RF technology, and can be easily installed in any home. It can also be controlled from keypads and mobile devices, including the Apple® iPad™ and Android devices.
