HTSA Donates to Support Relief Efforts in Japan

HTSA members and vendors come together to donate $19,000 to American Red Cross and the Japan Society

CHESTER SPRINGS, Pa. -April 4, 2011 - Home Technology Specialists of America (HTSA), is a buying group comprised of the country's most experienced and knowledgeable custom retailers and system integrators. HTSA members raised over $19,245.00 and have donated this money to two charities aiding in the Japanese tsunami relief effort. The donations were split evenly between the American Red Cross and the Japan Society and resulted in $9,622.50 being sent to each group.

"We wanted our donations to not only help the current tsunami victims but also aid in Japan's future recovery," says Richard Glikes, Executive Director of HTSA. "This donation will help the American Red Cross to provide health care and shelter for the thousands of people injured or left homeless on March 11, and the money given to the Japan Society will go towards the rebuilding of the devastated areas. I'm extremely proud of the effort, generosity, and unity that our members have shown during this unfortunate time. The Japanese vendor community has been very supportive of HTSA and we felt it was our turn to repay their support in some way."

Affected by the disaster are many of the consumer electronics manufacturers based in Japan, and HTSA worked with Japanese vendor partners Panasonic, Sony and Mitsubishi to select two funds that would benefit most from the $19,245 raised.
