Andover, MA, April 13, 2010 - MKS Instruments, Inc. (NASDAQ: MKSI), a global provider of technologies that enable advanced processes and improve productivity, has introduced the Ethernet Control Module, featuring a compact, high density design that consolidates IO units into one location, minimizing cost and system footprint. This all -in -one module controller combines a large number of analog, digital, serial, and interlock I/O connections with speed, programmability and the ability to communicate over multiple protocols for maximum flexibility and ease of use.

The Ethernet Control Module's intelligent programmability allows the unit to run multiple defined sequences simultaneously, modularizing and distributing time -critical tasks closer to the device in order to maximize processing speed and determinism of the control. Its cLogic™ real time logic engine distributes logic to the I/O modules, overcoming network bandwidth concerns and allowing high -speed control as tight as 1 msec. Modbus/TCP, DeviceNet, EtherCAT, Profibus and a web browser can be used respectively for control interfaces and data monitoring, allowing for greater migration and flexibility. The Ethernet Control Module allows "on the fly" adjustment and reuse of different interlocking schemes via the SIL3 certified (IEC61508) programmable interlock module, significantly reducing engineering time and costs. This optional programmable software interlocks significantly reduce time -to -market for new modules/chambers and applications.

The module also features a TOOLweb™ Interface for data collection and analysis, and easy remote setup and configuring via a standard web browser. A front panel LCD display shows IP address, basic diagnostics and status. Data can be graphed in real time for complete diagnostics, and a variety of embedded functions such as PID, PWM, counters and sequencers are available to simplify programming.
