RTcom USA announces Fiber Optic and Cat6 modules for 80x80 Digital Matrix Routers

Additions to I/O options expands the flexibility of the EDM matrix router line

SPARTA, N.J. ― March 17, 2010 ― RTcom USA Inc., a leading provider of digital connectivity solutions for commercial and residential A/V systems, today announced several new modular solutions for its large digital matrix routers. Building off the fundamental design of the EDM (Expandable Digital Matrix) platform, new options have been added to the lineup. In addition to HDMI and DVI input/output modules, RTcom has introduced fiber optic and Cat6 inputs and outputs for DVI and HDMI signals. The added capability allows both sources and displays to be positioned at almost any distance from the router.

EDM routers are card frame designs and support most digital signal options including: DVI, HDMI, SDI, 3G HDSDI and DisplayPort. Standard models include 36, 72, 108 and 160 ports and can be configured as standard ports or extendable fiber optic and Cat6 ports. "RTcom continues to create the most flexible digital routing products on the market," said Andy Fliss, General Manager at RTcom. "Since the day we shipped the industry's first HDMI matrix router in 2006, we have remained ahead of the curve."

All port options may be configured to support 2.25Gps per channel with HDMI 1.3 and HDCP compliance. What is truly unique is how these modular port options can be matched and combined to support each input or output source or display independently. For example, a blue -ray player could be connected to the router by fiber optic cable at a distance of more than 3280 ft. and the router can output the signal to Cat6, fiber optic or standard DVI/HDMI ports. This is true routing flexibility. All options are currently available.
