Irvine, CA - SmartLabs, Inc. CEO Joe Dada will be a panel speaker at the CONNECTIONS Summit at CES: Monetizing Connectivity in the Home. Dada will be speaking about INSTEON and the Smart Grid on the panel "Bringing the Smart Grid to the Smart Home." The event takes place January 7, 2010 in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Currently in use in millions of homes today, INSTEON is an award -winning proven technology that has emerged as a source for energy management, demand response and load -shedding in Smart Grid trials with four of the top 10 utilities in the United States.
For the fourth year, Parks Associates is hosting the CONNECTIONS Summit at CES. The 2010 event features sessions focusing on trends, emerging business models and technologies, and growth opportunities for companies developing products and services for the digital home. Parks Associates finds that already over six percent of all U.S. meters are smart meters, and many U.S. utilities are announcing new deployments and pilot programs, which will push the number of smart meters to almost 50 million by 2012.
"There is a lot of buzz about the Smart Grid, however, as the panel topic suggests, it's what can be done in the home that will push us toward optimizing our nation's energy usage, moving us towards energy independence and minimizing our carbon footprint," stated Dada.
Dada founded SmartLabs in 1992 as a startup. Shortly thereafter he launched Smarthome.com, becoming one of the world's first ecommerce companies. During the late 1990's, he acquired two product engineering firms, formed SmartLabs Design, and began designing and manufacturing proprietary remote control lighting and related products. Between 2000 and 2005, he led the development of INSTEON, a dual -mesh (RF plus Powerline) networking technology which is now the best selling home area networking technology. Dada is currently on the University of California, Irvine Extension's Sustainable Buildings: Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy advisory board, assisting in the direction and development of the curriculum, marketing and partnership opportunities. Dada holds a bachelor's degree with honors in engineering and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana.
