Showcase of AV technology applications for the Transport and Security Industries Industry leaders at InfoComm Asia 2008, largest dedicated trade show in Asia for pro AV and systems integration

Decision makers, specifiers and managers of command and control operations in the transport and security sector, as well as transit station and fleet operations will be able to see, assess and learn about a broad spectrum of audiovisual solutions this November 19 -21 at Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. InfoComm Asia 2008, the pan Asian trade show for pro AV technology and systems integration will debut with more than 226 exhibiting companies from 20 countries, including three group pavilions - Singapore, Taiwan and the USA.

Audiovisual systems are used widely in the transport sector, most visibly in the display and announcement of arrival/departure times and in dynamic digital signage. Beyond this, there is a whole host of visualization solutions that are employed to render safe, efficient and comfortable journeys. From large display systems to enable traffic controllers to monitor and assess traffic conditions, and guide traffic movement; automated information sharing and collaborative conferencing systems to activate response operations in congestion or emergency situations; to remote cameras for security and operational surveillance; and powerful processors to receive data feeds from different sources, analyse or organize and show them anywhere on a large screen. The convergence of AV technology and voice/data communication technology has expanded AV's role from the traditional arrival/departure information display and announcement services to enhancing fleet performance, travel safety and transit security.
All these solutions and more will be presented at InfoComm Asia 2008. The transport, and security, sector is one of many key markets for a number of AV industry leaders who will be displaying their latest technologies at InfoComm Asia 2008.
Companies like Barco and VTRON will bring their visualization solutions such as high resolution display systems, video walls, and interactive digital boards. Another exhibitor, Jupiter Systems, supplies network -based multiple -screen display stations and display wall controllers, which drive desktop and operator consoles and projectors in display walls. C -Nario provides a complete digital signage platform with innovative content creation tools to create displays and cut costs, as well as smart plug -ins for seamless integration with external systems and data feeds.
Other AV systems suppliers with technology applications for the transport sector at InfoComm Asia 2008 include AMX, Ateis, Barix, Broadsign, Beijing CuanBo JiYe Electronic, Brillview, Gefen, Dehao Electronics, Kramer, Lighthouse, Oripix, Sharp -Roxy, Sali Electronics, Smart Tech, Televic, Xian Beiguang Optoelectronics, Beijing Boruilianchuang, Exvision Technology, RGB Spectrum and Zhaoke Electronics. These companies will join AV industry leaders such as B&W, Brahler & Quadra, Christie Digital, ClearOne, Crestron, Da -Lite, Draper, LG Electronics, Lutron, Polycom/Ultra Active Technology, Projectiondesign, Scala, Sennheiser, Shure , Stewart Filmscreen and Wolfvision, to put together a most comprehensive display of the latest AV technologies tailored for the Asian markets.

In addition to the trade exhibition, there will also be a Summit program comprising educational seminars, manufacturers' presentations and industry -focused conferences, viz. Transportation, Building, Facility Management and Education. A key component of the industry conferences is the technical visit program to facilities which have installed or employed AV systems extensively, to give participants a better appreciation of AV applications in the various industries.

For the transportation industry conference, visits to the command and control centers of the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) and the MTR network have been lined up. HKIA replaced Kai Tak Airport in 1998, and in its relatively short history, has won numerous international "Best Airport" Awards. It is one of the world's busiest airports in terms of international passenger and cargo movement, handling 47 million passengers and 3.7 million tons of cargo in 2007. The MTR Corporation too is well regarded. It is one of the world's leading railways for safety, reliability, customer service and cost efficiency. Its 168.1km of track covers 80 stations, extending all the way from the heart of Central and Causeway Bay to the New Territories and Lantau Island. It also provides speedy through train services to major cities across Mainland China.

Representatives from these organizations will share their experiences with AV applications such as infotainment in air and rail transport at the conference. Other topics cover RFID applications, IP based visualization in traffic operation centers, and the Hong Kong Port experience in control and emission monitoring.

InfoComm Asia 2008 is dedicated to educating industry practitioners on AV technologies, working in cooperation with industry associations such as the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers - Control, Automation and Instrumentation, Intelligent Transportation Systems - Hong Kong Division, The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), and The Society of Operations Engineers (Hong Kong Region), among others. The event is sponsored by InfoComm International®, the Interactive Multimedia & Collaborative Communications Alliance (IMCCA) and the Chinese Institute of Electronics.
