Luminus Devices to Exhibit Array of Display Products Illuminated by PhlatLight™ LEDs at 2008 CES

Demonstration Will Highlight New LCD Backlight Units and Expanded Range of Front Projectors

Las Vegas, Nevada - January 7, 2008 - Luminus Devices, Inc. today announced that it will demonstrate a variety of consumer and professional display products illuminated by PhlatLight™ LED technology, including large screen LCD backlight units, projection TVs and several categories of front projectors, at this week's 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) taking place from January 7 -10 in Las Vegas.

The CES demonstration will highlight the following:

PhlatLight Backlight Unit for Large Screen LCD TV
Luminus will show its PhlatLight LED backlight unit (BLU) for LCD TVs with an integrated color management system, developed with X -Rite Inc. The BLU features Luminus' PhlatLight LEDs integrated with Microlens™ light guides from Global Lighting Technology, using only eight chipsets to edge light a large screen LCD display instead of the hundreds or thousands required to achieve adequate brightness and uniformity with conventional LEDs. With fewer LEDs required, the PhlatLight BLU dramatically reduces the cost and complexity of large screen LCD backlighting, enabling enhanced brightness and color uniformity over the life of the TV. Because it is edge -illuminated, the PhlatLight BLU also enables thinner LCD TV designs.

PhlatLight LED DLP TVs Supersized by Samsung
New DLP TV models from Samsung Electronics with brightness improvements will also be on display. The 67" model, which can be seen at CES, is the largest LED -illuminated rear projection TV available. These new models are the third -generation LED DLP TVs illuminated by PhlatLight LEDs.

PhlatLight Slim DLP® HDTV
In conjunction with Texas Instruments (TI), Luminus will demonstrate a slim DLP HDTV illuminated using PhlatLight LED technology. The DLP TV features a contrast ratio beyond 500,000:1, is ultra light and thin for easy wall mounting and due to the increased brightness, can use new screen technology doubling the viewing angle to match viewing angles of other flat screen technology.

PhlatLight Pocket Projectors
Luminus will highlight its expansion into portable pocket projectors, demonstrating four new models and prototypes from LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, iNNOSWELL and Upstream Engineering. The company will also demonstrate several DLP -based projectors, a unique new pico projector and the first ever 3LCD projector illuminated by PhlatLight LEDs. Additionally. several projectors are being introduced that use the recently announced PhlatLight PT54 chipset, enabling brightness to jump to 150 lumens and beyond, or as much as 10 times the level of previous products using conventional LED technology.

Growing Application Support
Application support for PhlatLight LED continues to grow with color management systems from X -Rite and PhlatLight LED drivers available from leading semiconductor companies such as Osram, National Semiconductor and Maxim.

"Luminus has expanded beyond projection TV with products for the entire display market," said Christian Hoepfner, vice president of products at Luminus Devices, Inc. "We are eager to bring the unparalleled brightness and power of PhlatLight to LCD TV and several categories of front projection. Luminus' technology has the ability to completely redefine what LEDs can do for high -definition display, and we are looking forward to demonstrating this at CES."

Manufacturers of the world's brightest LEDs, Luminus has brought its PhlatLight technology to applications previously impossible with conventional LEDs. Continual brightness improvements have driven the expansion of PhlatLight across a wide range of display product categories, and chipsets are already in commercial use in projection televisions from Samsung and an ultra -portable pocket projector from LG Electronics. PhlatLight enables displays with brilliant image quality and lower power consumption than comparable products illuminated by plasma, LCD CCFLs, and conventional arc lamps.

Luminus will be conducting demonstrations in a private suite at the Mirage, located at 3400 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Las Vegas, Nevada. Anyone interested in scheduling an appointment should contact Bree Clidence at (760) 940 -9025 or Kaycee Roberts at (401) 490 -9700 for more information.
