Anchor Bay today announced that its DVDO® iScan™ VP50PRO has been named a 2007 Consumer Excellence Award winner by Audioholics magazine, and an International CES Innovations 2008 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree.
Los Gatos, Calif. - Dec. 10, 2007 - Anchor Bay today announced that its DVDO® iScan™ VP50PRO high -definition video processor has been named a 2007 Consumer Excellence Award winner by Audioholics magazine, and an International CES Innovations 2008 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree in the video components category by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA®).
Presented by Audioholics magazine, the prestigious Consumer Excellence Awards program recognizes the most advanced and forward -thinking products in crucial consumer electronics categories. Awards are given to products that serve consumers directly and also those products that serve to improve the business and success of the custom installer.
Since 1989, the Innovations Design and Engineering Awards of the CEA have been a widely renowned consumer technology awards program that honors outstanding design and engineering in cutting -edge consumer electronics products. A preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers, and members of the trade press select Honorees based on a large number of criteria, including engineering qualities, user value, aesthetic and design qualities, unique and novel features, contributions to consumers' quality of life, and impact on the manufacturer's business model.
"We are honored to receive such prestigious recognition for our VP50PRO," said Doug Fealtman, CEO of Anchor Bay. "Anchor Bay is committed to providing customers with a stunning, one -of -a -kind viewing experience, and the VP50PRO is our most state -of -the -art offering yet in achieving this objective. We are very excited to have its unique technologies and features acknowledged by both Audioholics and the CEA community."
In addition to the 10 -bit Precision Deinterlacing™, 10 -bit Precision Video Scaling™ up to 1080p, Anchor Bay's exclusive PReP™ (Progressive ReProcessing), Progressive Cadence Detection, and RightRate™ previously available on the award -winning VP50, the new VP50PRO adds Anchor Bay's Video Reference Series™ (VRS™) mosquito noise reduction, fine detail enhancement, and edge enhancement. These new technologies greatly improve the quality of compressed, low -resolution content coming from STBs, DVRs, DVD, IPTV, and other digital media devices when viewed on high -resolution displays.
Setting a new standard in performance for customers, the VP50PRO is the first video processor to achieve THX certification. It is also the first video processor to use HDMI 1.3 receiver/transmitter chips that allow users to connect other HDMI -compliant 1.3 devices which support high -definition audio formats and Deep Color™, available on some newer sources like HD -DVD Blu -Ray and PS3. This capability allows the VP50PRO to provide customers with years of service as new source devices with this standard start to emerge.
For added convenience, the processor's two programmable 12V triggers provide seamless control over such devices as projectors, screens, lifts, drapes, anamorphic lenses, and much more. In addition, the VP50PRO offers ISF C3 certification, which gives ISF calibrators the proper controls to provide their customers with optimal settings for daytime and nighttime viewing while maintaining picture accuracy regardless of the ambient light in the room.
The VP50PRO will be displayed at the 2008 International CES, which runs January 7 - 10, 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase will feature honorees by product category at Innovations Plus at the Sands Expo and Convention Center, booth 70621.
The recognition from Audioholics magazine and the CEA adds to the growing list of accolades for the VP50PRO, which include an Electronic House Product of the Year Award and Custom Retailer Excite Award for 2007.
