Sunfire Launches the Cinema Ribbon, Compact Speaker with Phenomenal Soundstage
Innovative, Elegant, Versatile, Installer -Friendly New Speaker Ideal for Music and Movies, Two -Channel Pleasures and No -Compromise Home Theaters
CEDIA EXPO, Indianapolis, Sept. 9, 2005 - Sunfire Corp., a specialist in the design and manufacture of high -end audio/video components and subwoofers for the custom installation and retail markets, introduces the Cinema Ribbon Loudspeaker at the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) Expo 2005, beginning today in Indianapolis.
Sunfire's Cinema Ribbon and Cinema Ribbon Center Channel - its first speakers other than subwoofers - are compact, elegantly crafted speakers with an astonishing soundstage that's wider, deeper and higher than that generated by any other small speaker. They possess the ability to reproduce sound in a manner that's pleasing, accurate, warm and natural across each speaker's entire range.
Whether paired for stereo listening or arrayed in a five - or seven -channel Home Theater system, the Cinema Ribbon's breathtaking realism renders instruments, voices and sound effects with a presence nothing short of photographic. In two -channel operation, listeners experience the sonic grandeur of a gigantic, detailed, 20 -foot deep soundstage with pinpoint imaging, and no floor or ceiling bounce due to the unique geometry of the ribbon. When used as side or rear channels in a 5.1 or 7.1 arrangement, Cinema Ribbons disperse the surround information with unparalleled uniformity.
Forget your first impressions of 'compact' or 'small' speaker systems. The Cinema Ribbons are really full -size loudspeakers crammed into very small enclosures. About the size of a napkin dispenser, the Cinema Ribbons embody the most advanced audio technology available. A five -foot -long ribbon has been wrapped into a tight one -by -five -inch spiral to achieve a large radiating area within a small space. Suspended in a powerful magnetic field, this transducer delivers spine -tingling resolution with maximum intelligibility. The ribbon is encased in a specially designed lens with a center vane that ensures uniform, almost perfect wave launch geometry, even at the highest frequencies.
Each Cinema Ribbon Speaker measures only 8 inches high by 5 inches wide and 6 inches deep. It employs dual side -firing 4 -inch woofers featuring the advanced High -Pressure, High -Back -EMF woofer technology also used in Sunfire's acclaimed in -room True Subwoofers. The High -Back -EMF motor structure lets the graphite, carbon fiber, titanium -clad woofers operate in their sweet spots much more efficiently than would otherwise be the case, and without the chance of being overdriven.
The Center Channel is even more diminutive in height and depth, measuring just 6 inches high by 3 -_ inches deep, but somewhat longer (18 inches) to present a more traditional center channel speaker profile. The two 4 -inch High -Pressure, High -Back EMF woofers are forward firing in the Center Channel, while the 5 -inch ribbon is laid on its side and fitted with a parallax lens designed into the grill framework to aid in dispersion and deliver maximum intelligibility.
The focus on quality continues into the crossover, which uses a low -distortion, phase -accurate design that employs premium Mylar -filled, copper -clad capacitors, oxygen -free aluminum wire, and silver solder for all internal connections.
The speakers' small size belies their prodigious performance. Each speaker can handle up to 600 Watts of continuous power and features a dead -flat frequency response from 22kHz down to 90Hz. The 90 -Hz bass output has a depth and solidity unparalleled in speakers this small. The combined bass output of seven Cinema Ribbons in a Home Theater array will have listeners looking around for the big subwoofer that isn't there. Of course, adding a full -size Sunfire True Subwoofer will create a cinema environment far more powerful nd exciting than any most listeners are likely to have experienced.
The Cinema Ribbons look as good as they sound. The cabinets boast the same Ebonized Rosewood lacquer finish and dark gloss surface treatment that grace Sunfire's acclaimed True Subwoofer series. The rich, multilayered, meticulously crafted finish is so deep it looks black until a light is shined upon it, revealing the fine -grain pattern of the underlying wood and the warm, reddish glow of the lacquer.
The speakers' compact size allows installers to place them almost anywhere - on a wall, a shelf, a stand, or even the ceiling. A threaded insert has been thoughtfully machined into the rear and bottom of each speaker to enable use of the almost invisible Omnimount -style wall and ceiling brackets, as well as stylish pole -mount speaker stands. Four small rubber feet are included for conventional shelf mounting.
The Cinema Ribbon Loudspeaker will be available within 90 days from authorized Sunfire dealers at a suggested price of $600 each. It can be seen with Sunfire's other outstanding products in Booth 1840, RCA Dome, Indiana Convention Center, and at Sunfire's bi -level suite at the Omni -Severin Hotel, during CEDIA EXPO.
