Crestron Joins Zigbee Alliance - Delivers Wireless Mesh Network

ROCKLEIGH, NJ, January 11, 2005 - Crestron announces its new Wireless Mesh Networking solution that employs the ZigBee™ -ready IEEE 802.15.4 wireless networking platform. This exciting new innovation brings tremendous opportunities for a host of new cost -saving products and system solutions. Crestron plans to launch the Zigbee compatible Wireless Mesh Network solution at EHX booth #1400 with the introduction of a line of wireless dimmers.

Crestron's mesh networking technology uses an embedded 2.4 GHz RF wireless network, eliminating the need for physical control wiring. Each control device features an on -board RF transceiver chip that acts as a repeater, supporting multiple redundant signal paths within a mesh network topology.

Mesh networks offer a reliable solution because there is no single point of failure and they provide built -in redundancy. This new robust technology makes system design, installation, and upgrade extremely simple. Adding, removing or relocating devices in an existing installation is simplified and a wide range of addressable devices can be supported. The introduction of the Zigbee compatible wireless mesh network makes retrofit installations and historical landmark installations more practical and cost -effective.
