Super-Efficient, Custom-Installation Ready Amps Are Designed For Today’s Most Demanding Multi-Channel Home Theater and Music Applications

LONG BEACH, CA, November 10, 2003 -Continuing its tradition of offering consumers the ultimate in high -performance audio and home theater solutions, Marantz today announced the introduction of its 6 -channel MM9360 and 4 -channel MM9340 discrete power amplifiers. Both new multi -channel amplifiers are designed for audio and home theater applications where pure, accurate, detailed and powerful dynamic sound reproduction is a top priority.

Both the MM9360 and MM9340 rack -mountable multi -channel amplifiers provide total flexibility and convenience in custom installations, featuring a space -saving “zero” top/bottom clearance design and elegant black faceplate that perfectly complements the cosmetics of additional audio/video components. In both units, a state -of -the -art high -speed MOSFET switching design with spectrum spread switching technology provides up to five times more power efficiency than conventional class A or AB amps, resulting in improved overall performance, as well as reduced thermal emissions.

Both new Marantz amplifiers feature massive toroidal power transformers with tape wound cores, providing a near -perfect magnetic circuit to minimize losses, fringing, leakage and distortion. The MM9360 delivers 150 Watts to each of 6 channels (driven simultaneously into 8 ohms), or 500 watts to 3 channels (driven simultaneously into 8 ohms); and the MM9340 delivers 275 Watts to 4 channels (driven simultaneously into 8 ohms), or 800 watts to 2 channels (driven simultaneously into 8 ohms.) Individual input level controls for each channel allow precise adjustment. For added user flexibility, a bridged mono mode is included in each amplifier. Other high -performance features included in both amps include: gold -plated RCA inputs, XLR inputs, RC -5 jacks, 12 -volt DC triggers and 5 -way binding posts.

Kevin Zarow, Marantz Director of Marketing, noted: “With an increasing number of home theater and custom -installation components being utilized in a diverse mix of multi -functional home entertainment systems, there’s a growing need for flexible, powerful and reliable multi -channel amplifiers capable of handling the power needs of large, often complex systems. Our two new discrete amps are designed with today’s most discriminating home entertainment consumer in mind. They are engineered from the ground up to the most demanding specifications for power efficiency and reliability, and the end result is clean, stable power, capable of driving virtually any music or home theater speaker system available.”

The Marantz MM9360 and MM9340 multi -channel amplifiers will be available in November at suggested retail prices of $2799 and $2299, respectively.
