The crowd is gone, the staging dismantled and the lights are dark. CEDIA 2015 is now in the books. Attendance rose 16% to over 18,000, including a 33% rise for attendees, who visited for the first time. The show had a 6% rise in exhibitor participation. Of the 510 companies, 124 made their debut at CEDIA this year.
CEDIA 2015 was an indication of the way integrators are changing the way we experience life at home. Home owners can experience comfort, safety, control, connection, and entertainment without leaving their home. CEDIA was not just about the technology but how the technology improves the time we spend with our family at home.
CEDIA 2015 offered attendees numerous events where they could network and gain knowledge concerning the industry. The Opening Keynote speech was by famed Futurist Michael Rogers. There were new CEDIA Talks where attendees could hear from industry visionaries. CEDIA also conducted 108 training sessions, and attendees had the opportunity to earn their certification.
Of course, what you are primarily interested in are the best products that were featured at the show. So, let's review some.
For those of you with an outdoor bar, patio or pool, the Apollo AE6560 Outdoor Weatherproof LCD TV enclosure protects your investment. Apollo's weatherproof enclosure is constructed with powder coated aluminum for long-lasting durability and style. An anti-reflective safety glass reduces glare and enhances contrast for easy viewing; and for additional safeguard, their Tight-Seal technology seals the TV against rain, dust, and even insects. There is also a temperature controlled, filtered air-flow system giving you the industry's best outdoor enclosure.
The first amplified outdoor soundbar on the market, the Peerless SPK-060, is built to withstand the most extreme outdoor elements while delivering the highest quality audio.
Whether there’s rain, snow, ice or heat, the Xtreme Outdoor Soundbar stands up to the toughest elements that Mother Nature can throw at the system. The IP65 rated aluminum enclosure features rubber gaskets at every seam that completely seal, isolate and protect the soundbar’s electronics from the outside environment. The soundbar has features such as Bluetooth compatibility and full range audio support of 50Hz – 20 kHz.
LG Electronics displayed their flat OLED 4K smart TV w/web OS 2.0. Their OLED technology is revolutionary as the pixels are self-lighting, which makes for vivid color. The pixels switch completely off to achieve the perfect black for infinite contrast. Because colors look their best against a pure black background, the TV images are more vibrant and detailed than ever before. OLED's picture quality can be seen even from a wide viewing angle. Because of the OLED technology, the LG TV is ultra-thin and very light.
For those of you, who prefer a video projector, the Epson Pro Cinema 3LCD G6970WU home theater projector is the superior choice for premium home entertainment in large, open spaces with ambient light. It has 3 times higher color brightness than competitive models, ensuring vivid images. Featuring 6000 lumens, the G6970WU delivers ultra bright, brilliant projection with Full HD 1080p support and advanced video processing for incredible images. Cutting-edge HDBaseT and HD-SDI connectivity allow maximum installation flexibility. The projector has a choice of six optional lenses.
Screen Innovation's Revolve is a completely new motorized projection screen. SI removed the material between the viewing area and the case, creating a "floating television" that is suspended in mid-air. To accomplish this, they placed motors in the lower weight bar that would allow the screen to roll itself up when not in use. The material rolls up on the lower bar, which connects with an upper wing; and the entire assembly then moves into the case which can be mounted either externally or flush.
Screen material options range from their ambient-light rejecting slate material, to the very best white or gray screen on the market today. Revolve is available in a maximum size of 160-inches diagonally in 16:9 aspect ratio which makes it a great option for the largest of residential or commercial installations.
It's no secret that most built-in TV speakers can't effectively reproduce the dynamic range of special audio effects, dialogue and music. For those who want to upgrade those sub-par TV speakers and add a better performing 2.1-channel speaker system without cluttering up the look of the installation, Russound introduced the TVA2.1 digital amplifier, a 35-watt-per-channel stereo amp with a subwoofer output. The petite TVA2.1 can be mounted discreetly behind your wall-mounted TV, and it has three inputs—analog, coaxial, and optical. At $299.95, this is an easy decision.
SpeakerCraft, the premier audio brand from Core Brands, announced eight new speakers. The new SpeakerCraft AIM LCR FIVE Series is the new top-of-the-line in-wall speakers, designed to complement every high end home theater by adding Kevlar woofers and an aluminum-magnesium tweeter to AIM’s patented pivoting baffle. Timbre-matched to other FIVE series speakers, the AIM LCR FIVE Series delivers SpeakerCraft’s top in-wall performance. The speakers are available in 5¼” and 3” woofer configurations.
The Kaleidescape Strato is the world's first and only 4K Ultra HD movie player. Strato plays movies in true 4K Ultra HD at up to 60 frames per second without start-up delays, buffering or quality drops. Strato supports lossless multichannel audio, including Dolby Atmos, bit-stream pass through Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD master audio. Strato can be purchased with or without an internal 6TB hard drive that can store up to 100 4K Ultra HD movies, 150 Blu-ray, or 900 DVD movies.
Those who’ve never experienced a professionally installed, dedicated home theater before may not realize how a commercial-grade private home cinema enhances the viewing experience. Quantum Media System's new Quantum Private Theater lineup of home theater packages brings its sound and video system from the commercial level to the home.
The Quantum Private Theater package includes a proprietary 4K RGB projector capable of playing UHD REC2020 Color Space-encoded content, which encompasses more than double the color spectrum of the HD standard REC709. An acoustically transparent projection screen, immersive Dolby Atmos soundtrack audio playback, and quality digital cinema servers, playback systems and 4K Up-Res processors are also part of the package. Quantum Private Theaters utilize proprietary commercial grade 4K RGB Digital Laser Projector housed in a smaller chassis and engineered to produce minimal heat and noise. The Laser Module light source can be located in a distant rack area or closet and connected to the projector via fiber cables for easy installation. Quantum Media Systems technicians offer on-site calibration to ensure proper integration. This saves you the time and effort that goes into selecting the components for your home theater.
