Smart10 Windows Version 0.1.00
Smart10 Windows Version 0.1.00 by Stephen Billard Email
Smart10 is another slick CP290 controller program.
The help system is short and sweet but it covers most of what you'll need to know. Configuring Smart10 is a snap. I was up and running and turning lights on and off within 5 minutes of loading the program. Smart10 is available in both a 16 bit version for Windows 3.1x and a 32 bit version for Windows 95. The functions are identical, but the Windows 95 version is faster at loading the CP290 because of improvements Microsoft made in COM port I/O handling.
Smart10 Program Screen
Smart10 operates a little differently than some of the other programs reviewed in that devices and schedule events are defined simultaneously using the Schedule Editor. The program creates the schedule using simple to learn scripts.
Smart10 Schedule Editor
|Pushing the light bulb icon in the editor pops up this simple device definition screen. Fill in the appropriate info, push OK and the first line (device definition) is entered in the schedule.|
|Next you push the clock icon to define the schedule for that device. Fill in the schedule data and push OK. Smart10 writes the script into the schedule for you.|
Once you're all set up you save the schedule file and download the events to the CP290. You can also print lists of your schedules and devices for reference. There are many other features incorporated in Smart10 including support for the Fade command and complex event strings such as BETWEEN, EARLIERTHAN, LATERTHAN, IF etc. to expand the usefulness of the CP290. The best way to check it out is to download a copy (633 KB .zip file) from Steve's web site and try it out for. You don't need the CP290 installed to review the software and for those of you unsure of what it (CP290 controller) can do, this is the best way to make an evaluation before you buy it. If you like the software, there's clear and easy instructions for registration.
