The joists are 200mm or 8" x 2" in old money, no other lifts would fit into the void without building a massive bulkhead which sort of defeated the purpose of what I wanted to achieve.
The move to HFR really is the future of movies, for everyone from the visionary directors to the audiences making entertainment decisions on a Friday night. HFR will raise visuals to a quality never seen on the biggest screens, and likely muzzle many of the naysayers who highlight the performance flaws - like strobing and judder - in current 3D cinema, and generally dismiss 3D cinema as a passing fancy.
Projectors have long been beanished to the dedicated home theater, but with such rooms disappearing from floorplans more and more and improved technology, Screen Innovations makes a compelling case for replacing the TV with a two-piece projection system.
We've seen and heard about 4K TV and Projectors for some time now. Our friends at DSI Entertainment Systems share their perspective.
Whether you are buying a LCD or plasma television or maybe a projector for your home theater, you will want to get the most out of the video image. Most consumers run their plastic through the store's machine, pick up their new display at the dock, take it home, unpack it and turn it on. The viewer then plops down on the sofa with a bag of popcorn, and accepts whatever video image that is displayed on the screen. If you truly want the best video image, you need to take a few minutes and make some adjustments to the set. The basic calibration procedure for your television can also be used for a projector.
It's not always desirable, or practical, to hang a projection screen in an AV installation. Mighty Brighty projection screen paint solves this problem by allowing virtually any surface to become an invisible screen.

You no longer have to be limited to 55 or 65" 3-D televisions, as you can watch 3-D movies on screens up to a 300" diagonal, depending on the image size that can be projected by the brand of projector that you select. Not all projectors are capable of projecting 3-D. In fact, many cannot. Even some projectors that are cited by its manufacturer as 3-D ready or 3-D capable do not process 3-D well. Some models cannot project 3-D images from a Blu-ray player, but only from a PC that has 120 Hz output.
Just because televisions are getting larger and cheaper doesn't mean projectors are going the way of the 8-track player. On the contrary, there are more reasons than ever why projectors are growing in popularity: Maybe Bob Dylan foresaw all these developments when he wrote the lyrics, "The times they are a-changin."
Last week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas, we saw a wide range of 3D HD projectors that accept content over HDMI. This is a game changer. Until now, most of the 3D projectors on the market could only receive content from a PC through a VGA or DVI cable, reducing the image quality to a lousy 480i.
