Surround Yourself with Tannoy

Designed specifically for use as surround channels in home theater systems, the Tannoy EFX-1 offers high performance and flexibility in a compact package. Utilizing a sealed trapezoidal enclosure, the EFX-1 uses two ¾” woven fabric treble units, two 3” polypropylene midrange units and a 5” polypropylene bass unit. The midrange units use separate internal enclosures from the bass unit to minimize coloration.

The unit may be either rear-wall or side-wall mounted and can be switched between dipole or bipole operation via switches behind the grille cover. The switch arrangement on the EFX-1 also allows the user to experiment with the treble unit in dipole mode and the midrange unit in bipole mode, and vice versa, if desired. It uses a simple and elegant integral mounting system, or may be positioned on small shelves. Power handling is 100 Watts program, with a frequency response of 80Hz-20kHz in a typical room. The cabinet may be painted to match room décor.

The EFX-1 will add unprecedented spaciousness to movie soundtracks when included in any home theater loudspeaker system. Suggested retail price is $600 per pair.

The Tannoy Universal SuperTweeter is designed to provide the extended high frequency response demanded by modern program material and sources. It not only resolves fine detail of high frequency notes, but effectively enhances the listening experience even at lower frequencies. Music contains transient information and rich harmonics beyond the range of human hearing for pure tones. Even bass notes have leading edge transients reaching 30kHz. Operating between the roll off point of the existing speakers and 54kHz, the SuperTweeter will accurately reproduce the leading edge of individual notes allowing the listener to experience the entire bandwidth information of instruments.
