CRESTRON SAYS "LET THERE BE LIGHTING" AT CEDIA 2001

Automation and control leader introduces new dimming and lighting control solutions for the home, as well as a new line of automation cabinets.

INDIANAPOLIS, CEDIA 2001 (Booth #123) - Crestron has chosen CEDIA 2001 to introduce its new line of dimming and control solutions for home lighting, as well as new home automation cabinets and mounting plates.

As a leader in high-end whole-house automation and control technology, Crestron understands that the proper use and control of lighting can transform a home and enhance its owners' lifestyle. With dimming control fully integrated into a Crestron Home, moods both subtle and dramatic can be created at the resident's whim, with the simple touch of a button. Crestron's full range of dimming and control modules makes it all possible.

Dimming Modules The new variety of Crestron lighting modules allow dimming of incandescent, magnetic and electronic low-voltage, and fluorescent fixtures for total flexibility in lighting design. Crestron is introducing the new 8-channel CLX-1DIM8 dimmer and the new 4-channel CLX-1DIM4 dimmer, which run on a 1-20A circuit. For 2-20A circuits, Crestron introduces the new CLX-2DIM2 2-channel dimmer. This range of options ensures that you'll enjoy the perfect mood for every room and every activity.

Crestron is also introducing the new 4-channel CLX-1DELV4 low voltage dimmer for electronic fixtures, as well as the new CLX-1FLVC4, a 4-channel fluorescent dimmer with low voltage control.

Crestron Home dimmers are designed for a variety of circuit configurations and lighting fixture types to give your lighting designer the flexibility to choose incandescent, fluorescent or low voltage fixtures. And, because everything is controlled by the Crestron processor, there is no need for a separate lighting controller.

Switches and Motor Control Modules Switches and motor control modules also enhance the home system, allowing screens and projectors to descend from the ceiling, and drapes to open and close. These modules allow on/off switching that easily handles power surges, as well as control of motors for screens, drapes, ceiling fan, projector lifts and more.

The new 4-channel CLX-4HSW4 with a high-inrush switch operates on 4-20A feeds, while the new CLX-1MC4 is a 4-channel bi-directional motor controller that runs on 1-20A feed. Both of these specialized modules give you the flexibility to incorporate operation of even non-electronic devices into your home system.

Crestron's family of home lighting modules includes the highest quality materials and components with oversized heat sinks and individual relays in series with each dimming zone for safety and performance. Lighting modules include split bobbin transformers and ground referenced electronics for interface suppression and lighting suppression networks - all standard in every module.

Wall-Mounted Dimming Controls Wall-mounted dimmers can now be an extension of your Crestron Home control. Each dimmer includes an isolated 2-wire non-polarized Cresnet port. Dimmers will operate as stand-alone when Cresnet data is not available and its buttons report to the Cresnet system and may be used to control other functions simultaneously. Designer finishes are available to match virtually any décor.

Crestron has provided some of the world's most advanced commercial lighting systems for more than twenty years. Crestron lighting systems can be found in many most prestigious locations, ranging from the Twin Towers Convention Center and Windows on the World restaurant in New York to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Crestron has been responsible for a number of firsts in lighting, including the creation of the first all-digital microprocessor-based lighting module.

Automation Cabinets All dimming and control modules mount efficiently in Crestron's new automation cabinets. While touchpanels and keypads grace the living spaces of your home, Crestron components do the work while tucked discretely inside Automation Cabinets in the control room.

These multi-purpose cabinets are a universal solution for wiring custom configurations of home lighting, control, phone, cable and security systems. Universal mounting plates allow mounting of any non-Crestron equipment to the automation cabinet. Together, they ensure efficient use of space, effective heat dissipation and neat, professional wiring.

Crestron's multi-purpose cabinets and mounting plates allow mounting and wiring of our lighting and control systems, as well as phone, cable and security systems from other manufacturers. The wide range of cabinet sizes, plus the flexible mounting holes and knockouts, let the installer use space efficiently while achieving effective heat dissipation and a clean, professional look. Also included are thoughtful details like easy-to-use labels that clearly identify the electrical circuits, ensuring confusion-free servicing and upgrades throughout the lifetime of the house.

Crestron control systems designed just for these automation cabinets provide a dedicated microprocessor for lighting, or for general control functions throughout the house. Crestron's home automation solutions are perfect for central-based systems as well as distributed and hybrid systems, either retrofits or new construction.

The new TPS-3000L offers a 6" high-resolution color screen, while the TPS-2000L features a 5" high-resolution color screen. These diagonal displays present beautiful color control graphics and full-motion video with clarity startling in screens so small. A light sensor automatically brightens or dims with room light so it's easy to see any time of day. With a full 180-degree viewing angle, the result is an outstanding picture for watching TV, previewing DVDs or checking security cameras, no matter how the panel is mounted.

The exclusive Virtual Pan and Zoom feature in these new Isys panels is as useful as it is fun to use. Thanks to Crestron's advanced digital video processor circuitry, just a touch of the screen with a finger can allow panning across the video picture and zooming in for the best view - even with stationary security cameras.

The audio capabilities of these new Isys wall-mounted touchpanels allow for WAV sound file storage and playback deliver instantaneous audio feedback, from sound effects to the sound of your own voice. A microphone, amplifier and speakers allow talking with arriving guests, as they're viewed on the security cameras. And, with automatic gain control and adjustments for volume, base and treble, garbled intercom conversations are a thing of the past.

Isys compact video touchpanels are an inspired all-in-one solution for the kitchen or foyer. Mounting cleanly on any wall, the TPS-2000L and TPS-3000L effectively replace the clutter and confusion of multiple switches, dimmers and thermostats. The large screen can support multiple windows for monitoring several functions at once, and also provides a broad canvas for sophisticated control screen graphics or extra-large buttons. A light sensor brightens or dims automatically with room light for easy viewing and water-resistant covers provide protection around the pool or spa.

For locations not requiring video, Crestron's compact Isys wall-mounted touchpanels combine the flexibility and visual appeal of a touchpanel with the simplicity of ten engraved pushbuttons. Like the Isys video models, they also feature a light sensor, water-resistant covers and designer finishes.

Crestron Isys( advanced touchpanels are capable of operating any number of devices and linking to multiple control systems around the world via the Internet, making it the ideal vehicle to drive Crestron e-Control(, the industry standard for Internet-based control. CRESTRON INTRODUCES NEW PROFESSIONAL CAT5 VIDEO DISTRIBUTION SOLUTIONS AT CEDIA 2001

Crestron Home video solution delivering professional video quality from up to 64 separate sources into as many as 32 separate rooms and areas.

INDIANAPOLIS, CEDIA 2001 (Booth #123) - Crestron has chosen CEDIA 2001 to introduce the new Crestron Home(tm) professional CAT5 video distribution system.

The Crestron video distribution solution provides professional quality far above the level of consumer-grade equipment for sophisticated home theaters, kitchens, bedrooms, offices and even outdoor areas. This highly configurable video distribution system delivers video from up to 64 separate video sources like DVD players, DSS receivers, tuners, VCRs and cameras into as many as 32 separate rooms and areas via standard CAT5 structured wiring.

The revolutionary new Crestron CNX-PVID8 x 4 and CNX-PVID8 x 3 video processors accept component, S-video and NTSC/PAL composite video sources, including HDTV signals, and distribute them to display devices throughout the home via standard CAT5 structured wiring.

This ensures a balanced signal for long runs, allowing for equalizing, adjusting and boosting the gain of the video signal for the perfect picture for every application, in every room.

Centrally located in the home system, the VID8's unique design features 3 or 4 tiers of video inputs and outputs, each highly configurable for a variety of video formats. Each tier implements a matrix switcher for direct connection to local display devices. The top tier may also be used for distributed digital audio. In addition, it contains outputs for distributing any of these video signals via CAT5 mode to up to 8 rooms throughout the house.

Also being introduced into the Crestron Home video solutions lineup is the CNX-PBVR4, a 4-room CAT5 to RCA balanced video receiver. The CNX-PBVR4 receives the local video signal via CAT5 from the room and inputs it to the video processor for distribution anywhere else in the house. Together, these two new products provide ultimate flexibility for sharing any video source, in any format and any location, with the rest of the home.

The VID8 is ideally used in tandem with the new Crestron CNX-RMC room control and CAT5 decoder in each room, which receives and decodes the CAT5 video from the VID8 and supplies it to the display devices in the room. Combined with Crestron's CNX-PAD8 professional audio distribution processor, one of Crestron's CNAMPX 12 or 16-channel intelligent amplifier, and a Crestron control system, this video distribution solution creates a complete networked audio/video/control solution for the connected home.
