Home of Electronic Lifestyles to make permanent home in Indianapolis
Fully automated home made available for hands-on training
San Diego, Calif. - The Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA), the leading trade organization dedicated to the connected home industry, announced today that its Home of Electronic Lifestylesä will make a permanent home at the CEDIA Training Center in Indianapolis following the American Institute of Architects (AIA) 2003 National Convention and Expo in San Diego, Calif., May 8-10, 2003.
Unveiled at CEDIA EXPO '98, the Home of Electronic Lifestyles has traveled around the country for nearly five years demonstrating the benefits of a fully automated home. The home has been to 20 shows and has been a cross-training tool for professionals in industries such as architecture, construction and home remodeling.
The 2003 home showcases the most up-to-date, cutting-edge products and integrated systems from the world's top custom electronics manufacturers, designers and installers. The home not only brings together the hottest electronics products, but also illustrates how the products can be integrated for seamless control.
"With the growing demand of education in the custom electronics industry, we knew the CEDIA Training Center would be the ideal permanent location for the Home of Electronic Lifestyles," said Billilynne Keller, CEDIA's executive director. "Education is the cornerstone of CEDIA's mission and providing hands-on training for people dedicated to enhancing their skills in the industry is our continued goal."
The CEDIA Training Center opened in June 2002 and provides a centrally located state-of-the-art facility for CEDIA's continuing education programs and membership outreach initiatives. The facility includes a 72-student capacity training room for classroom instruction, a lab for hands-on demonstrations and training, and a large room for the Home of Electronic Lifestyles.
Several educational programs are held at the facility, including CEDIA's Boot Camp training courses, an intensive multi-day training course for members new to the custom electronic design and installation industry.
The AIA 2003 National Convention and Expo is an ideal setting for the Home of Electronic Lifestyles' final stop of its tour because more and more home owners are considering centralized security systems, lighting, and sound, as well as home theaters and other electronics systems that can be controlled with the touch of a button or from remote locations. It's increasingly important for architects and custom electronic installers to work closely together during the planning process to design homes with home networking solutions in mind.
The 2003 home features a full spectrum of automated systems, including an automated home theater, central vacuum system, touchscreens and navigation controls that seamlessly integrate and simplify the operation of lighting, audio/video, climate, security and communications systems, and whole-house lighting and window shade adjustment systems.
Like the Home of Electronic Lifestyles, a home with an integrated system has a central control panel to operate all applicable systems, including entertainment systems and complex subsystems such as lighting, security, heating and cooling. Integrated systems manage repetitious tasks, including arming the security system, turning off unnecessary lights, setting thermostats, turning off appliances and much more.
The Home of Electronic Lifestyles at the AIA 2003 National Convention and Expo is sponsored by the following manufacturers: Lutron Electronics Company, Inc.; Stewart Filmscreen; Audio Design Associates, Inc. (ADA); CinemaTech Seating, Inc.; Niles Audio Corporation; iCEBOX, LLC; Sony Consumer Integrated Systems; Runco International; Triad Speakers, Inc.; Seleco (SIM2 Seleco USA, Inc.); AVAD, LLC; AMX Corporation; Acoustic Innovations, Inc; and Axiom Design, Inc.
The Home of Electronic Lifestyles is located at booth #1528 and will be open from May 8-10 at the AIA 2003 National Convention and Expo.
