Cogency Appoints Vice President of Research and Development Former Nortel Networks executive will drive strategy for next generation home networking technology
OTTAWA/TORONTO, Ontario - June 18, 2001 - Cogency Semiconductor, a leading provider of semiconductors for the rapidly growing home networking market, today announced the appointment of Wayne Getchell as Vice President of Research and Development. Based in Ottawa, Mr. Getchell will drive the strategic direction of Cogency's next generation home networking technology. The appointment is effective immediately and reflects Cogency's continued growth and leadership in the powerline home networking industry.
Mr. Getchell has over 20 years of experience in the design of integrated circuits, in-building wireless services, and network architecture. Prior to joining Cogency, he lead numerous engineering teams in communication technologies at Bell Northern Research and Nortel Networks. Most recently he led the Local Internet Architecture Team which developed simultaneous voice, video and data network architectures. As Director of High Speed Wireline Technology Development, Mr. Getchell spearheaded the development of DMT modems including ADSL and VDSL versions. His career in networking also includes executive positions at Bell Northern Research.
