AMX ANNOUNCES NEW MANAGEMENT CHANGES
RICHARDSON, TX - July 30, 2001 - AMX Corporation, the worldwide leader in advanced control system technology, today announced the appointment of Jean Nelson as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. She is succeeding Paul Fletcher who is leaving to pursue other opportunities.
"Paul has been an outstanding asset to the AMX team and we appreciate his dedication and contribution in repositioning the Company," said Scott Miller, AMX Chairman, President and CEO. "We wish Paul and his family every success for the future."
"Jean's financial experience and operational background will be of great value to AMX," said Miller. "Jean is results-oriented and has an impressive track record of success. Her knowledge and depth of experience with technology manufacturers is a positive addition to our AMX team."
In other management changes, AMX welcomes Carl Evans as Vice President of Operations. Evans brings 20-plus years of high-tech manufacturing experience to AMX. He is responsible for all manufacturing operations including planning, supply chain management, product quality and reliability, and production. Since 1998, Evans served as Vice President of Operations and Service for Samsung Telecommunications. He also has held senior management positions at Siemens, Network Access Corporation, Intellicall and Northern Telecom.
Jim Hogan, Director of Supply Chain Management joins AMX with 20 years of manufacturing management experience. Most recently, Hogan was responsible for procurement and materials management at FSI International. Previously, Hogan was responsible for engineering and managed manufacturing efforts for Applied Materials, Carrier Corporation, and Trane.
Miller commented, "The AMX manufacturing team is now stronger than ever before. With the addition of Carl and Jim, we will enhance our abilities to provide our customers with reliable and technologically advanced products."
Tim Schaeffer joins AMX as General Manager of its West Coast office. Since 1996, Schaeffer served as Vice President of Otari Corporation of America, a manufacturer of professional recording equipment. For fifteen years prior to joining Otari, Schaeffer was owner and President of The New West Group, which operated a Manufacturer's Representative firm, a studio equipment rental company and a distribution company, all in the Professional Audio fields.
"We are delighted to name Tim to the leadership position of in our West Coast office. In this capacity, Tim's role will be to elevate AMX's West Coast operations to a new level in that marketplace," said Miller.
AMX Corporation has also announced a key promotion for Mike Ramoz, Director of Sales Support. Ramoz is responsible for streamlining the sales support teams and overall customer service for AMX's dealer network. Ramoz began his career in the audio and video industry in 1988 with York Controls, which merged with AMX in 1991.
"Mike has worked tirelessly in each of our domestic sales support operations. He is an important resource in our fast-moving industry and a powerful presence in the AMX community," said Miller.
AMX Corporation also announced a key promotion for veteran AMXer, Anna Stamatelatos.
Anna Stamatelatos, Director of Corporate Communications, is responsible for streamlining the Company's communication efforts within all key areas of operations-- Marketing, Training, Sales, and Engineering. In her new role, Stamatelatos will report directly to Scott Miller, Chairman, President, and CEO.
"Anna's acceptance of this role is key for the overall communication of the company. Her expertise and experience in our core markets will allow her to continue to excel with the dealers, consultants, and operational divisions of AMX. Her natural ability to lead divisions within our organization makes her an obvious choice for this new position. This is great news for AMX and our valued customers," Miller said.
Prior to joining AMX, Stamatelatos' career in the audio and visual technology industry began in 1994. Since joining AMX in 1996, Stamatelatos has served in several key capacities, most recently as Director of Marketing. Historically, she has served in key roles within the development of AMX, including establishment of the West Coast Sales Support office in Costa Mesa, California and direction of an award-winning Corporate Marketing team at the Company's Headquarters in Richardson, Texas.
AMX Corporation announced the addition of Joel Van Vlasselaer as Business Development Manager, Europe.
Van Vlasselaer, who will be based out of AMX's Brussels, Belgium office, will be responsible for a variety of strategic initiatives as AMX continues to lead the control systems industry in the European market through its distributor and dealer network. Van Vlasselaer brings over 17 years of high tech sales and management experience to AMX.
"The addition of Joel to our International sales support team demonstrates AMX's commitment to this fast-growing segment of our company. As Joel leads our development in the European marketplace, AMX will continue to seek new ways to support our distributor and dealer communities. The Company's products, aimed at the international technology market, provide a substantial opportunity for AMX internationally," said Michael Olinger, Vice President of Sales.
Van Vlasselaer had previously been International Sales Manager of Crestron International since 1995, where he was directly responsible for the implementing a sales strategy within newly established satellite offices in Belgium, Luxembourg, and France. In addition, he was responsible for overseeing sales within Italy, Spain, Portugal, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, the Middle East and Eastern Europe, where he supervised 5 area managers.
AMX Corporation announced the appointment of Michael Olinger to Vice President of Sales. He will utilize his distributor and dealer experience to lead both the domestic and international sales teams in his new role.

Olinger joined AMX in 1994 as Vice President of International Sales, and has been responsible for leading the international sales teams and global offices to record sales growth. In 1998, Olinger established AMX's World Partner Network to provide AMX's International distributors and dealers improved communications and support. Prior to joining AMX, he had a 20-year career in international sales and management.
AMX Corporation announces the appointment of R. Randal Riebe to Vice President of Strategic Planning. In this new role, Randy will utilize his broad industry knowledge and perspective to best position AMX to lead the industry and plan for future market opportunities.
In announcing Riebe's promotion, Scott Miller, Chairman, President and CEO of AMX states, "I am delighted that Randy has accepted his expanded responsibilities at AMX. This new position is ideal for his interests and talents, which include sales and manufacturing as well as strategic business development. Randy will give AMX the administrative leadership and oversight it needs as our business continues to grow."

Riebe joined AMX in 1997 as director of the videoconferencing and OEM sales divisions. Since then, he has served in various capacities, including National Sales Manager, Vice President of Sales and Vice President & General Manager. Prior to joining AMX, Randy had a 20-year career in executive positions in the professional audio, video, and telecommunications industries.
AMX Corporation today announced promotions to key leadership roles for Lynnette Gracey, Michael Peveler, and Brian Hertia.
Lynnette Gracey, Director of International Sales, is responsible for the day to day operation of AMX's International Team and the overall management of the World Partner Network. Gracey's career in the international audio and visual technology industry began in 1992. Since joining AMX in 1998, Gracey has served in several key capacities, most recently as Manager, Latin America and the Caribbean. Gracey reports directly to Michael Olinger, Vice President of Sales.
Michael Peveler, Director of Training, has vast experience in training for the technology market and has conducted numerous training seminars worldwide. Peveler played a key role in the development of AMX University, an award-winning, technology-training venue. He has increased the Company's dealer training efforts by developing specialized, hands-on courses that are highly regarded in the industry.
Brian Hertia, Director of P3, AMX's Protocol Partner Program, joined AMX in January of this year as the Eastern Account Executive for Residential Systems. In his new role, Hertia will oversee the operations of the technical research and protocol development efforts for the Company. Prior to joining AMX, Hertia spent 4 years as Manager of Dealer Development for Residential Systems with Lutron.

AMX Corporation announces the appointment of Steve Byars to as Vice President of Administration. In his new position, Byars will oversee AMX's human resources department and related administrative initiatives.
Byars has previous experience leading the HR and administrative functions for Hollywood Casino Corporation, and prior senior level experience with Fidelity Investments, Trammell Crow Company, Amdahl Computer Corporation, and Texas Instruments.

A Texas native, Byars is a graduate of the University of North Texas, where he earned a Masters of Business Administration and a Bachelor's of Arts degree. Byars then graduated from Executive Management Programs from Stanford University and Harvard University.
