Proxim Unveils New 802.11b and HomeRF Wireless Solutions for the Mac
Proxim Offers Broadest Range of Wireless Networking Solutions for Consumers
MACWORLD, SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 8, 2002 - Proxim, Inc., (Nasdaq: PROX), the leader in wireless networking, introduced today the first 802.11b USB and 10 Mb HomeRF wireless networking solutions for AppleÒ MacÒ users at this week's Macworld Expo (booth #1137). Proxim's new 802.11a 100 Mbps wireless networking solutions, which will offer Mac compatibility this spring, are also being demonstrated. With these new products, Proxim offers consumers the industry's most complete choice of wireless networking solutions available - spanning multiple wireless standards and both Mac and PC platforms.
Symphony HomeRF for the Mac is an interference-resistant, 10 Mbps wireless networking solution for the home and small office markets. It includes a new Symphony Maestro user interface that provides Mac users a familiar, intuitive look and feel. Along with Symphony HomeRF's superior home networking features, Symphony HomeRF is designed to support voice and streaming-media-based entertainment products and services.

Proxim's new 802.11a 100 Mbps wireless networking solutions will be demonstrated at Macworld, and Macintosh-compatible versions of Proxim's Skyline and Harmony 802.11a product lines are due to ship this spring. These products are fully compliant with the IEEE 802.11a standard for speeds up to 54 Mbps and feature Proxim's 2XÔ mode, which enables connection speeds up to 108 Mbps. These high-speed wireless solutions are perfect for sharing large files, such as presentations and graphics, utilizing high-quality multimedia content, and collaborating over a wireless network at wired network speeds.

Availability and Pricing (US $) The Skyline 802.11b USB Adapter is available for a street price of $149. Macintosh drivers for this adapter are available this week at www.proxim.com as a no-charge download. The Symphony HomeRF PC Card, USB Adapter and Base Station are available for $99, $99 and $199, respectively. The new Symphony Maestro Macintosh user interface will be available at no additional charge on the Proxim web site in February. Harmony and Skyline 802.11a products for Windows users are now shipping. Macintosh drivers for Proxim 802.11a products will be available this spring.
