Leviton Introduces the 10/100Mbps Internet Gateway

New Cable/DSL Broadband router offers high-speed Internet connection, private network and built-in firewall.

Indianopolis, September 6, 2001 -Leviton Voice & Data Division has introduced its new 10/100 Mbps Internet Gateway. This firewall-based internet sharing device allows multiple users to use high-speed DSL and cable services to access a single, secure, internet connection and creates a private network for home or small office environments. Working with Leviton's Structured MediaT System, the Internet Gateway is equipped with a 10/100Mbps Ethernet switch that connects directly to four devices, and has a push-button uplink port that allows cascading of additional peripherals, such as hubs or switches. This allows for up to 253 connections on a single, shared internet connection, eliminating the need for additional IP addresses, and creating a private network for home or office.

Using Network Address Translation technology (NAT), the Internet Gateway is equipped with a built-in firewall that shields all connected PCs and devices from outside observation. The firewall also facilitates IPSEC and ISAKMP protocols, allowing secure communication for network users. Browser-accessed IP address packet-filtering options can be used to protect users from unwanted internet material.

The Internet Gateway can be upgraded to respond to new protocols and enhancements by way of e-mails that can be delivered to your own personal computer and loaded quickly and easily into the Leviton Internet Gateway firmware.
