New cross-platform Vinli Home Connect system brings home, car into one interface Compatible with Icontrol Networks, Nest, and Samsung SmartThings
Dallas, TX (January 4th, 2016)- Vinli, Inc., a connected car platform, today announced the beginning of the end of the fragmentation between competing connected home and connected car systems. Built on the Vinli platform, Vinli Home Connect brings compatible connected home platforms together into one interface with the connected car.
When the Vinli onboard device and platform is used with leading connected home products from companies including Icontrol Networks, Nest, and Samsung's SmartThings, the new Vinli Home Connect app integrates comprehensive automation control into a single interface. Temperature, lighting, security, and more can all be managed or monitored using one app, across platforms and manufacturers.
The carhome connection means that home automation settings can be based not only on the presence of the user in the home, or on the clock, but on where the user's car is located. All of this is powered by Vinli's always on 4G / LTE-powered connected car.
"We're seeing this rapid growth of integrations being developed for the connected home and car markets, but this is creating a fragmentation problem and frustration for the consumer," says Mark Haidar, founder and CEO of Vinli. "Our team has created an elegant, easy-to-use solution for connected homes in the US and abroad, so consumers can seamlessly manage their network of connected home products and connected vehicles, all from a single source."
"As smart home and connected car capabilities become more prevalent and affordable, we are excited to be working with Vinli to deliver a solution that bridges the gap between the two," says Jeff Hagins, CTO and cofounder at SmartThings. "With this integration, the power of our platforms - SmartThings for the home and Vinli for the car - are coming together to offer consumers a first-of-its-kind home automation experience."
With Home Connect, actions are prompted when a vehicle in your family network crosses a specified boundary, such as your driveway or subdivision. For example, if your teenager is the last to leave the house, the back door locks, the lights turn off, the temperature adjusts, and the security system is armed. And you're instantly notified at the office on your mobile phone.
When you get close to home, the house begins to wake up: the temperature adjusts, the lights turn on, and the shades open. Your home system doesn't wait for you to get home, or simply react to the clock. It prepares for your arrival and acts accordingly, whether you get home at the usual time or you're running late.
As an advanced connected car device and cloud platform, Vinli brings 4G LTE / WiFi to virtually any car on the road today, along with a universal market of apps delivering smart capabilities previously only seen in newer cars.
This investment in Vinli Home Connect signals a commitment to support the connected home market. The currently compatible systems and products allows Vinli Home Connect to work towards Vinli's goal of becoming the IoT management developer of choice for the industry.
To stay ahead of the explosive growth in consumer interest in smart technologies, Vinli is also moving deeper into the design and manufacturing of new vehicles. Vinli Carport, announced at the 2015 International Motor Show in Frankfurt, was developed to give automotive manufacturers and OEM suppliers the world's first cloud-based smart dashboard, ready to add to any new car before it leaves the factory. As an open platform, only Carport can connect drivers to all aspects of their digital lives with real-time information about their cars, their loved ones, and with Vinli Home Connect their homes.
"We're proud of the way our Vinli platform is opening up any car to the rest of the connected world," says CEO Haidar. "But we're not stopping there."

Vinli was founded to bring connectivity to every car on the road today. The company does this with a simple device that plugs into a car's OBDII port and installs in seconds. The Vinli device provides 4G LTE WiFi on the road, and its cloud-based platform gives drivers access to the data systems of their own cars. This connection unlocks virtually unlimited possibilities for safety services, maintenance, social, and entertainment apps and services. As the world's first open platform for smart-car apps, Vinli has only begun to explore these possibilities. Spinning out of the Dialexa Labs incubator in 2014, Vinli officially launched on the TechCrunch Disrupt Battlefield stage. The company is now backed by some of the largest automotive and tech companies including Samsung, Cox Automotive, Continental, The Westly Group, and First Round Capital. The company is headquartered in Dallas, Texas, USA. Find out more at vin.li.
