CEDIA - Parks Associates: More than 330 million 4K UHD TVs will be sold globally by the end of 2019

Research Director addresses advancements in TV picture quality at CEDIA, October 15

Dallas, Texas, October 14, 2015 - Newly released connected CE research from Parks Associates finds more than 330 million 4K UHD TVs will be sold globally by the end of 2019, an increase from two million in 2013. The report, Connected CE: Trends and Innovation, notes that, of U.S. broadband households planning to purchase a flat-panel TV in 2015, 56% think that 4K picture quality is an important feature. Among flat-panel shoppers not planning to buy a 4K TV, 42% were unfamiliar with 4K/UHD technologies, and 44% felt either that the price was too high or that the picture quality was not worth the premium cost. The research firm will discuss its connected CE and consumer research during a special session on next-generation TVs at CEDIA EXPO 2015, October 14-17 in Dallas, Texas.

"In addition to 4K, picture technologies such as high dynamic range (HDR) and wide color gamut (WCG) are being introduced to the market," said Barbara Kraus, Director of Research, Parks Associates. "The combination of these picture technologies will produce more saturated colors, more dynamic images, and pictures that look more lifelike."

Kraus will lead the session "Next Generation TVs & Projectors: Better Pictures through Better Pixels" on Friday, October 16, at 10:30 A.M. The session will focus on advancements in color TV viewing, including HDR, HFR, Wide Color Gamut, and increased pixel counts. She will be joined by the following panelists:
