TecHomeX Research Uncovers Surging Interest in Broad Scope of Home Technologies

Integrators, contractors, builders, remodelers, architects and related trades see the value of extended tech plays and plan to expand offerings over the next two years

ORLANDO, Fla.--The entire ecosystem of smart home industry players is aggressively planning to expand their offers of home technologies over the next two years, according to research conducted by TecHomeX.

The online survey was fielded to tens of thousands of integrators, contractors, builders, remodelers, architects and related trades this summer and generated more than 500 responses.

Results indicated current involvement with—and strong growth plans for—tech in categories, like: electronics/home automation/entertainment AV, smart HVAC/IAQ, lighting/electrical and smart water.

Respondents of the survey included:

* builders, remodelers, architects (44%)
* electronic systems integrators, monitoring and managed service providers (30%)
* electrical, HVAC, plumbing, appliance, energy generation contractors (13%)
* and others

Of the group, 97% agreed that their company believes in including/installing innovative technology to create a competitive advantage.

And most also agreed that a trade event, like TecHomeX—featuring a broad assortment of innovative home technology vendors, education and ways to network effectively with trade allies and peers—would be useful and enticing to attend.

"Our summer study confirms a broadened scope of technology penetration in the home," says AE Ventures President John Galante. "We're also seeing interest from all kinds of companies to play in the space.

"At the same time, it confirmed the need for an event like TecHomeX, which for the first time provides the ecosystem a place they can jointly learn and connect with each other and vendor partners. TecHomeX can really help make and move forward the emerging TecHome market!"
