HTSA Fall Conference Focused on Next

Product Previews, Digital Marketing Courses, Sales Practices, VendorFest and a Night of of Awards on the Spirit of Chicago as HTSA Dealers Descend on Chicago.

Barrington, IL - September 25, 2015 - The Home Technology Specialists of America (HTSA), convened in Chicago last week for a productive, multi-day series of collaborative educational sessions led by both HTSA manufacturer partners and leading members companies and capped with the fifth annual HTSA VendorFest. With 45 vendors and over 90 percent of membership present, the focus on this year's Fall Conference was on Next.


HTSA's managing director Bob Hana opened the general session with this thought, "The rate of change in this business is crazy. It's all about what is next. For each of us in this room that spells opportunity."

Looking at what's next for HTSA, the group unveiled what the alliance between HTSA and the Nationwide Marketing Group and the formation of the new HTSN affords members and vendors. Next on that list is Nationwide's video production resources, new financial options through Synchrony Financial, and access to online training modules through Nationwide's MemberNet portal.

During the Fall Conference, members each spent time experiencing Nationwide's video production crew. "Knowing that in 2014 consumers watched 73% more branded video than the year before, and that by 2018 mobile video will account for 69% of mobile traffic, digital video is what's next for HTSA marketing initiatives," said Hana. Each member recorded their introductory video on-camera against a green screen as part of their 2016 digital video initiatives.

"We've learned so much about the opportunity that video presents to market our services to new customers," said Chris Woolman of Wilshire Media Systems. "Like many HTSA members we are about to launch our new website, and we focused on what we've learned is next - mobile compatibility, organic content and digital video. We have HTSA to thank for that."

Members and vendors collaborated on business for the coming year, reviewed the state of the industry and made their CEDIA '15 predictions. "The HTSA Conference was an extraordinary opportunity to get facetime with our customers ahead of Expo this year," said Future Automation's Ollie French. "We wrote business and planned for projects in the pipeline, all while we had good fun."

In addition to their annual awards which were handed out to a dozen members and vendors while onboard a sunset cruise on the Spirit of Chicago, HTSA also welcomed two new members. Making their first appearance at HTSA were The Stereo Shoppe of Boise, Idaho and Stellar from Houston, Texas.
