X2O Media Propels Lockheed Martin's Velocity News Network to Win Top Honor at Digital Signage Expo

Visual Communications Solution Recognized With Bronze DSE Apex Content Award

MONTREAL -- March 12, 2015 -- X2O Media, a Barco company, today announced that the Lockheed Martin Velocity News Network (VNN) driven by the X2O platform has been recognized with a Bronze DSE Apex Content Award in the Business, Industry & Government category. Mirroring a traditional news network model with broadcast-quality production values and images, Lockheed Martin's VNN was created as an internal corporate communications solution to better engage and inform non-wired members of the workforce.

"VNN has become an invaluable communication tool to keep our widely dispersed workforce engaged and up-to-date with the latest company information," said James Lavine, Manager, Multimedia at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. "A lot of work went into the creation of the network by a dedicated team of Lockheed Martin professionals, and it's exciting to see their efforts recognized with such a prestigious award."

Targeting employees without company email or access to the Internet, Lockheed Martin's VNN was installed across multiple corporate campuses within the U.S. to provide broadcast-quality news stories in order to keep all staff members updated on company information and policies. Using the X2O platform's easy-to-use tools, VNN content producers can efficiently build visually appealing stories without compromising onscreen production standards, and deliver them in the highest quality to more than 140 displays throughout the network.

"We are thrilled that Lockheed Martin has received a Bronze DSE Apex Content Award," said David Wilkins, President, X2O Media. "VNN demonstrates that as a corporate communications tool, digital signage provides a wide range of visual communication possibilities that contribute to enhanced sharing and interaction between people and information. We are honored to be a part of this outstanding deployment."

The X2O platform dramatically streamlines content management workflows by simplifying the creation and management of media-rich channels for visual communication networks. Using a highly intuitive graphical user interface, the HTML5-enabled software makes creation, scheduling, and playout of dynamic content to any screen including digital displays, videowalls, tablets, and smartphones incredibly easy. Linking to internal and external data sources is also simplified, enabling the incorporation of data-driven graphics connected to corporate databases such as SAP®, Excel® spreadsheets, or RSS feeds. Users simply drag and drop content to create channels quickly from HD video, still images, 3D animations, PowerPoint® slides, and more.

The annual DSE Apex Content Awards recognize originality in content applications tailored specifically for the many and varied global DOOH audiences. This year's 28 Apex Content Award finalists were selected from a field of 60 entrants from six countries vying in 11 major digital signage categories. Nominations were individually assessed and juried on the basis of originality in content applications developed specifically for digital signage by three independent panels, each with three industry professionals.

Lockheed Martin's VNN was also recently recognized with a 2015 DIGI award for Best Content, Corporate Communications.
