NorthStar now offers the Encore Products "Firefighter" hardware that turns any existing smoke detector into a monitored smoke detector.
Orem, UT April 17, 2014
Following the International Security Conference in Las Vegas this past week, NorthStar announced its newest, most innovative monitored smoke detection hardware available for purchase, the "Firefighter" by Encore Products. NorthStar expects the Firefighter to be a popular monitored option since it is easy to install, cost-effective, and can turn any existing smoke detector into a monitored detector.
"After extensive research, we found that the Firefighter is the most affordable and convenient way for anyone to have the extra peace of mind that comes with monitored services," said Jason Christensen, President of NorthStar. "We are excited to offer the Firefighter and believe it has ability to save homes and families."
According to the National Fire Protection Association, U.S. fire departments responded to 365,000 home fires in 2012. An estimated $5.7 billion in direct property damages was the result of these fires. NorthStar believes that the Firefighter can help lower these numbers by reducing the response time of fire departments, thus reducing fire-related damages through early detection.
In the case of a fire, the Firefighter picks up on the smoke-detector alert and sends a signal through the alarm panel, which alerts the fire station - even if there are no occupants in the home at the time. Through the interactive Total Connect app, customers can also set-up text messages to be sent directly to their phone when an alarm has been detected. This technology will help solve the age-old problem of smoke detectors going off in a home where no one is there to hear it.
