Crestron integrators gathered last week to find out who was triumphant in the annual celebration of the finest Crestron projects that are 'Integrated by Design™'.

Hosted at the company‟s newly opened EMEA Showroom at the prestigious Design Centre Chelsea Harbour in London, the 2013 Crestron Integration Awards for residential projects generated an impressive abundance of entries and was the most competitive Crestron awards to date.

With a record breaking 52 entries this year, the judges really had their work cut out. Joining Robin van Meeuwen, Crestron International Vice President and Petra van Meeuwen, Crestron EMEA PR Manager, on the judging panel and charged with the difficult task of selecting the winners was Stuart Pritchard, editor of industry magazine SVI, consumer technology journalist Emily Peck and Louise Bradley, the inspirational interior designer behind the new Crestron EMEA Showroom‟s stylish scheme.

"This year, the very high standard of entries demonstrates that we are working at the top level of lifestyle electronics," said Robin van Meeuwen as he announced the winners. "We have seen a truly inspiring array of projects where integrators have created highly sophisticated schemes, a great example of true „Integrated by Design™‟. We are very proud of this fabulous showcase for Crestron solutions."

And the winners are:

Best Integrated Home System - ClearSphere for Hyde Park Residence

You could be forgiven for thinking that this Grade 1, stucco fronted, Georgian property had no place toying with the latest smarthome technology.

However, the judges praised this installation for demonstrating a clever balance of cutting edge technical design alongside the developer‟s restoration of the property to its classic dcor.

Most Distinctive DigitalMedia™ Installation - 4KS for Exclusive St Tropez Retreat

The newly refurbished pool area of this St Tropez estate has been completed to the highest standard with a number of innovative features that made it stand out for the judges. Impressed with the stunning and inventive creation of outdoor space, the judges felt this project is a great showcase of Crestron DM®; featuring a large mix of sources, located far from the main house.

Brilliant Lighting Control and Design - Custom Controls for Derby Home

This family home benefits from Crestron control for AV and HVAC which extends to the property‟s heated driveway, however, it is its impressive lighting control that earned Custom Controls its fifth Crestron award in as many years. It is the first UK project to use Crestron‟s new luminaires, CLEDs.
"Great integration requires great planning and research to deliver the right lighting system to each and every client and this project is one of the best researched installations we saw this year," adds Petra van Meeuwen.

Best High Rise Living - ClearSphere for Bezier Penthouse

Overlooking Old Street‟s bustling Silicon Roundabout is Penthouse 122, part of the sail-shaped Bezier Apartments. The luxurious suite has an extensive Crestron system, inside and out, installed by double award-winner, ClearSphere.

Best High Rise Living - Highly Commended - The Next Level for The Lansbury

Unusually this year, the judges felt that this category was so tightly matched that they awarded The Next Level a special Highly Commended Accolade for its project. The Lansbury, an apartment overlooking Harrods in the heart of Knightsbridge, is kitted out to the max. Each apartment is controllable room-by-room via touch screens - by the touch of a button the client can control their climate, lighting, intercom, multimedia and CCTV.

Best Marine Project - Dawsons AV for Imperial Princess

This project delivers on all criteria. This yacht was the first 40m boat that Princess Yachts had built and it was to be a flagship project. Each guest cabin is equipped with surround sound and feeds from the central processor allow for media streaming via Apple TV® and a Kaleidescape® movie server. A truly beautiful marine project.

Best International Crestron Home - Ultimate
Solutions for Emirates

This impressive property is on a grand scale - with eight video zones, 32 audio zones and the tailored features and media restrictions that were set on a room by room basis. The install includes a central Crestron DM® system that manages all the audio and video to each room and each TV, speaker configuration and home cinema setup. There is also a choice of Crestron touch screens and iOS® devices in all areas of the home to suit each family member‟s preference.

Most Creative GUI - Ultamation

Interface design and programming is perhaps the most important aspect of CI; without a good design all the automated wizardry goes to waste. Ultamation‟s video submission proved to be a near perfect showcase of Crestron‟s Smart Graphics™ program and presented the judges with an easy decision when selecting a winner.

"An effervescent evening celebrating the great and the greatest of worldwide custom installation at Chelsea's glamorous EMEA Showroom. The awards were a win for innovative integration, a win for Crestron and a win for the industry in general," Stuart Pritchard concluded.

Emily Peck added, "It's great to see top design and luxury technology working in harmony together to produce exciting results and the talents of key experts in the industry being celebrated at the Crestron Integration Awards. Congratulations to everyone who took part and all the winners."

"With the addition of the Best International Crestron Home category, we got the opportunity to see our systems across the world," adds Robin van Meeuwen. "It also gave us the chance to recognise some of the excellent work that our overseas integrators are doing."

Designed by guest judge Louise Bradley, the showroom provides a unique representation of Crestron‟s „Integrated by Design‟ ethos where great technology and great design work in harmony. To book your appointment at the showroom, contact Linda Furino on +44 (0)207 352 0028 / or visit to
