Special emphasis on the art of technology meeting design will be a new focus for the judges this year.
With the Crestron Residential Integration Awards rapidly approaching, Crestron is delighted to announce this year's panel of judges. Special emphasis on the art of technology meeting design will be a new focus for the judges this year and, as such, Crestron has assembled a panel that reflects the multi-disciplined approach to integration that the judges are hoping to see in the award submissions.
With many years' experience as a freelance journalist, Stuart Pritchard is one of the industry's most trusted voices and in addition to his expertise gained from working in technology and luxury lifestyle journalism, he is best known to the CI community as the editor of the industry publication, SVI:
"I'm no stranger to watching people receive gongs, but it is enormously flattering to be approached to be a part of something as core to our industry as the Crestron Awards. Shifting up a gear to judge from merely judgemental is a fresh milestone in my career, and I promise not to be corrupted by power this time."
Crestron's relationships with interior designers have become an increasingly important aspect of integrated technology as it's only when projects become collaborative between these two disciplines that the best end-result is achieved. The Louise Bradley Interior Architecture and Design practice has worked alongside Crestron on a number of projects in the past and the lady at the helm will be bringing a new perspective on design in the judging:
"It was a pleasure to be asked to be on the panel to judge these prestigious awards. Technology has developed so quickly within design, it is now a must have for luxury living.
In the various categories, I will be looking for considered spaces and the use of lighting to create atmospheric moods, along with the seamless integration of AV and home automation."
Emily Peck has transitioned between the fields of tech and interiors for 15 years as a journalist and has worked for a number of leading titles such as Grand Designs, Ideal Home, Stuff, BBC Good Homes and Real Homes, and also joins the panel. In addition to her freelance work Emily is a contributing editor at Wired UK and the editorial director at ACHICA and in 2012, scooped a CEDIA Award for her technology writing in the consumer press.
"With such exciting innovations leading the way, it is a pleasure to be involved in helping celebrate great design and technology."
Completing the judging panel is Crestron International's Vice President Robin van Meeuwen and EMEA PR Manager, Petra van Meeuwen. Also new for this year is the venue - Crestron's first London-based showroom, housed within the interior design hub of the Design Centre Chelsea Harbour (more details coming soon).
"We always look forward to the Crestron Residential Integration Award entries as these reflect the beautiful projects our integrators have been working on in the past year. They are proof of the dedication and professionalism our integrators put in, year in year out," says Robin van Meeuwen.
