Projection Advertising beams famous Beatles mural on to iconic Apple building

Launch of stylish new apartments featured psychedelic projection

Projection Advertising, the UK's leading projection specialist, last week transformed the appearance of 94 Baker Street, the Grade II listed one-time base for Apple Records and the Apple Boutique, as part of the 31 July event to launch the luxurious new Apple Apartments.

Utilising two 15K projectors to create a light projection, Projection Advertising adorned the building -on the corner of Baker Street and Paddington Street - with a contemporary interpretation of the famous psychedelic-style mural by Dutch group The Fool, which had originally adorned the Apple building in its heyday. The image was projected with the strapline 'another beautiful place for beautiful people' - echoing Paul McCartney's description of the Apple Boutique as 'a beautiful place where beautiful people can buy beautiful things.'

"It was wonderful to play a part in such an historic occasion," explains Tom Burch, managing director of Projection Advertising. "The launch of these fabulous apartments marks the 45th anniversary of the closure of the Apple Boutique and the move of Apple Corps, and it's also
50 years since the phenomenon of 'Beatlemania' first took hold. We hope that through our interpretation of the original mural we've managed to recreate a sense of the avant-garde which
the Fab Four were renowned."

Inspired by the Beatles' reputation for exuberance and imagination, the Apple Apartments have a unique place in Beatles history. Specialist investor and developer The Malins Group has restored and redesigned the interior of the Grade II listed building to create five apartments with unrivalled contemporary interior design and a splash of 1960s pop culture. Contemporary interiors are decorated in a 1960s monochrome palette and 1960 pop culture is reflected throughout.

Two artists were commissioned to provide artwork for the apartment interiors. Keith Haynes, who uses original Beatles vinyl albums and singles from the 1960s, has created a series of artworks. Scott Eaton, who created the Venus of Cupertino ipad dock, has created quirky Venus of Cupertino lamps for the bedrooms.
