Hitron's CGNM Gateway and MoCA-Based Adapters Pair the Fastest Broadband Speeds With the Highest Performance Home Network
WASHINGTON, June 10, 2013 -- (The Cable Show 2013 -- Booth
for the connected home and Hitron Technologies Americas (Hitron), unveiled
today a powerful collection of home networking solutions that promise to
deliver an end-to-end high-speed networking backbone for whole-home data
coverage. Hitron's CGNM, a DOCSIS 3.0-certified data gateway, HT-EM, a
Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA(R))-to-Ethernet adapter and the HT-EMN,
a MoCA-to-WiFi(R) (802.11n 3x3 2.4GHz) extender use Entropic's MoCA 2.0
solution. The advanced data gateway and adapters pair the fastest broadband
speeds with the highest performance MoCA home network required to meet
multiple service operators' (MSO) data delivery needs. The new CGNM, HT-EM
and HT-EMN will be on display at The Cable Show, which is being held June
10-12, 2013, in Washington D.C., and represents the industry's first MoCA
2.0 gateway-to-adapter demonstration from a single vendor.
MSOs have evolved their in-home architectures and are now beginning to
deliver all-IP services to a gateway in the home and then distribute those
services over wired (MoCA) and wireless home networks. To best deliver these
services, MSOs are deploying high-speed DOCSIS gateways, which in turn
require a high-speed, highly-reliable MoCA backbone.
Hitron's new CGNM DOCSIS 3.0-powered device is capable of 1 Gigabit per
second (Gbps) downstream speeds and incorporates Entropic's MoCA 2.0 silicon
and software, which delivers 400+ Megabits per second (Mbps) of MAC
throughput. The combination of Entropic's MoCA technology with Hitron's
Adapters is poised to satisfy MSO's needs for all-IP video and broadband
distribution around the home.
"We are steadfast in our mission to lead the market in data gateways and
home networking solutions. To accomplish these goals, we sought-out the
highest performing and most mature MoCA technology in the market,"
said Todd Babic, chief sales and marketing officer, Hitron Technologies
Americas. "Entropic's MoCA 2.0 system offers the industry's highest
performing coax home networking product in the smallest form factor and was
the ideal solution for our CGNM., HT-EM and HT-EMN."
"The market for MoCA 2.0 is now. Hitron's leading high-performance gateways
deliver unprecedented bandwidth to the home and require a stable and
established MoCA 2.0 backbone solution for whole-home content distribution,"
said Al Servati, vice president, Marketing, Connectivity Products at
Entropic. "Our MoCA 2.0 solutions are market-ready, mature and complement
Hitron's advanced gateway solutions to ensure MSOs can distribute all-IP
content reliably and securely throughout the home."
Hitron's advanced data gateway and TR-069 supported adapters leverage remote
management and provide communication between the customer-premises equipment
(CPE) within the home network. The CGNM, HT-EM and HT-EMN leverage
Entropic's EN2710, which features:
-- A complete solution with MAC, PHY, analog, RF transceiver and RF
-- Net throughput (MAC) rates of 400+ Mbps over 16 nodes and 500+ Mbps
two-node Turbo mode
-- Full backward interoperability with MoCA 1.1 and 1.0
-- Low power modes with wake-on-MoCA to address energy conservation
-- Improved reliability with packet error rates better than 1e-6 and a
latency of 3.5ms
The Hitron CGNM gateway, HT-EM and HT-EMN adapters integrated with
Entropic's MoCA 2.0, are generally available today.
