Vivint Prevents Flood and Freeze Damage with Home Automation Products

Product alerts customers when temperatures drop or moisture rises to dangerous levels.--- Customers can now prevent damage from frozen pipes and flooding.

PROVO, Utah--Vivint™, the largest home automation services company in North America, is protecting homes against flooding and frozen pipes with its home automation equipment. Vivint offers a variety of products, like its flood/freeze sensor and its video cameras that prevent damage to its customers' homes. The flood/freeze sensor is designed to protect the home against flooding and extreme temperatures and is capable of monitoring temperature and moisture changes simultaneously. It is best suited to monitor areas such as laundry rooms, bathrooms, and basements and can also monitor freezers or refrigerators for constant temperature.

Tony Casper, a customer living in Ohio, decided to install a flood/freeze sensor based on past experiences: "We have a sump pump in the basement, and a few years ago the pump stopped working and caused a major flood. Not wanting to revisit the past, my wife and I opted for a flood sensor so if anything happens, we can take care of it quickly and don't have to rip out sheet rock or pay for expensive repairs."

When the temperature drops or moisture levels rise above set parameters for ten consecutive minutes, the sensor sends a notification directly to the customer's smartphone so users can preempt flood or freeze damage early and directly.

Korla McGillivray, a Vivint customer from Saskatchewan, lives in an area where temperatures often drop down to -20 or -40°C. "My husband and I like to travel," says Korla, "and it's been wonderful to have the freeze detector in our home and peace of mind while we're gone. It's a great precaution against potential damage."

The Vivint flood/freeze sensor is available in the Vivint Home Security package or can be added to any Vivint package at retail value. Video surveillance is available in the Home Automation package.
