Social and Videos Propel Major Success for Retailer's Big TV Daily Giveaway

INDIANAPOLIS--Indianapolis-based appliance and electronics leader h.h. gregg (NYSE:HGG) has wrapped up its enormously successful, second annual "Anytime, Anywhere" Sweepstakes featuring Sharp Electronics, after giving away a Sharp 70" Class LED television every day and $1000 h.h. gregg gift card weekly this October. The popular sweepstakes, promoted with a heavily social campaign that featured widely shared daily videos, captured more than twice as many entrants as the previous year, and more than fifteen times as many Facebook likers.


Total number of entries jumped from 332,075 in 2011 to 792,943 this year - almost 2.5 times as many. Facebook likers surged from 4,128 last year to 61,286 in 2012. And over a hundred thousand new customers joined the h.h. gregg email community, right before the critical holiday period.

Driving much of this success was the major role played by social media and video sharing.

Every day, entrants could earn one extra chance by sharing the video of the day -- a new feature this year -- on social networks like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google+ and YouTube. On average, video sharers came back to share a video almost three times throughout the month. Viral impressions shot up throughout Facebook and Twitter, multiplying the increase in likers over the previous year.

"This year, we brought the Sweeps to an already engaged Facebook base," said Jeff Pearson, senior vice president of marketing at h.h. gregg. "By utilizing their video shares and sponsored stories, we reached networks previously untapped. We are excited to welcome so many new members into the h.h. gregg community."

Creative, interactive development and program management were provided by customer engagement agency 89 Degrees; the video series was produced by Ground Floor Creative.

h.h. Gives, the h.h. gregg annual holiday charity promotion, begins on November 30 and will turn to this newly increased social liker base for the greater good. By partnering with Frigidaire and their charity, Save the Children, likers will convert entries into donations to make a difference where it is needed.
