The dedicated Digital Signage Awards website (www.DOOHDAS.com) opened for entries on June 1, 2012 with a celebration of the winners planned for London in March 2013.
The awards celebrate the use of digital signage and DOOH displays and advertising, with categories looking first at use across sectors as technical projects or as creative campaigns, and then across the skills within the industry: content, innovation, technology, interaction, 3D, etc. In all there will be 14 sector categories, 6 content/innovation categories, 6 company categories and an overall grand prix, covering every aspect of the industry.
The Awards are global in scope, filling a gap in the international recognition of DS and DOOH projects and campaigns, including mobile, and aim to attract entries from companies all over the world. Entries are expected from manufacturers, advertising and digital agencies, media specialists, outdoor advertising owners and contractors, mobile specialists, users (retail, finance, restaurants, transport and travel, education, etc), exhibition organisers and presenters and other venue operators. An entry fee is payable, though this can be reduced by registering on the website for free and receiving a voucher code to give a 10% discount. The closing date for the 2013 Awards is October 31, 2012 and judging will take place during December and January.
The trophies will be known as the DOOHDAS - short for Digital Out Of Home Displays Advertising and Signage. - and, the nickname, together with the name and graphic identity for the Awards, form a registered trademark.

The Digital Signage Awards are impartial, independent and objective and their aim is to seek out examples of the world's most excellent digital screen media projects, creativity, content and technology and to reward them publicly in print, online and at an annual event. The fluid, contra-currented changeability of this industry prompted the soft launch of the Digital Signage Awards in 2011. Entries will be collated during November and judged during December and January, with the short-list of finalists announced in mid-late January.
