Samsung Flagship Smartphone Adopts CSR aptX® Codec for Superior Bluetooth® Audio Quality

Expands aptX Ecosystem with More Listening Options for Mainstream Consumers

Cambridge, UK and Sunnyvale, California, USA - 24 July 2012 - CSR plc (LSE: CSR; NASDAQ: CSRE) today announced that the CSR aptX audio codec has been adopted by Samsung to deliver CD-quality stereo over Bluetooth wireless connectivity for its latest flagship smartphone, one of the most highly anticipated products of its kind this year. This Android™ 4.0 powered smartphone joins the rapidly expanding list of high-profile consumer electronics products that feature aptX technology.

"Having the aptX audio codec in this Samsung smartphone reaffirms our success in the mass market adoption of this technology as the de facto method for delivering high-quality stereo audio over Bluetooth wireless connections," said Anthony Murray, Business Group SVP of CSR. "As consumers experience the remarkable audio quality it achieves, we believe the proliferation of aptX technology in consumer electronics products such as this will be a catalyst for growth in the Bluetooth stereo audio market."

Today's announcement marks another milestone in a series of aptX deployments in products from Samsung, including tablets and headsets. It is also the most recent of dozens of other aptX audio codec deployments in smartphones, tablets, speakers, operating systems and other audio source and client products. Notable among these are the HTC® One Series smartphone, the Motorola® RAZR® and other smartphones and personal computer operating systems, as well as multiple products from major consumer electronics companies, including Nokia, Monster, Sennheiser and Creative, with many more products expected to be announced throughout the rest of this year.

CSR aptX audio coding technology replaces the standard audio codec Bluetooth employs for streaming stereo audio wirelessly from audio devices to headphones and speakers, delivering improved, high-fidelity sound comparable to the CD quality consumers have come to expect from their home entertainment systems. As a result, aptX technology is becoming the de facto industry standard for premium quality Bluetooth stereo audio.
