iKare Corporation Introduces FamilyLink

Well-Being Monitor Provides Peace of Mind for Families, Helps Seniors Stay Connected

ASHBURN, Va.--Independently-living seniors and their families stand to benefit from iKare Corporation's release of FamilyLink, a unique multipurpose device that allows safe, non-intrusive monitoring of seniors' well-being by family members. FamilyLink enables seniors to "age in place" without compromising their privacy, while also providing easy networking features to connect with their loved ones.

"I know that my grandparents want to be able to continue living in their own homes as they grow older but I worry about possible accidents or emergencies that might render them unable to call for assistance," iKare President Michael O'Connor said. "FamilyLink is an easy, hassle-free way for families like mine to monitor senior family members' well-being, while respecting their privacy and dignity."

FamilyLink operates with a built-in motion detection system that tracks the senior's activity in the room where it is located. If activity drops below expected levels, FamilyLink automatically sends notification alerts to the designated family member or other care provider. Care providers can also access the FamilyLink website to monitor the activity level.

On the senior's end, FamilyLink functions as a window for communication with family members, offering a user-friendly environment for everyone - including seniors with no previous computer experience. FamilyLink's one-touch user interface helps seniors stay connected with e-mail messages, photo-sharing, video chat, and more, while depending on the device's secure network and trusted contact system to guard against internet intrusions such as spam e-mail.

"My mother lives on her own in South Africa, but it has been challenging to make use of internet communication tools because she is not comfortable with computers," said iKare Vice President of Engineering Michael Eglington. "We designed FamilyLink to remove these technological barriers and allow easy social networking and peace of mind for seniors and their families."

iKare Corporation is dedicated to helping seniors age safely in their own homes while providing their family members with peace of mind and connectivity. iKare's team of award-winning, entrepreneurial engineers are motivated by their own personal experiences with parents and loved ones now "aging in place," and take pride in designing creative and innovative solutions which are simple to use and affordable for everyone.
