Matrox(R) Video Products Group today announced that its Matrox MC -100, a dual SDI -to -HDMI mini converter that supports a wide range of display resolutions through 3G, Dual Link, HD, and SD -SDI, is the recipient of a 2011 STAR (Superior Technology Award Recipient) Award, given by the editorial staff of TV Technology Europe magazine at IBC2011.

Published by NewBay Media, TV Technology Europe is the region's leading magazine for broadcast technology. The magazine's STAR Award is designed to celebrate and showcase the preeminent technological innovations available to the broadcast industry. TV Technology Europe's editor reviewed a variety of products, examined the technical applications and their overall contribution to the industry, and then chose 25 winners.

"STAR Awards are given to interesting new products that help a user save money or accomplish a task in an easier way," said Mark Hallinger, editor of TV Technology Europe. "The products selected help advance the industry. Some were chosen because of technical novelty or innovation, some because they filled an important gap in the production or transmission chain, and some because they were just cool products."

The MC -100 meets the diverse needs of broadcast engineers and A/V professionals in managing SDI signals within their environments, whether for monitoring, distributing, switching, multiplexing, and converging 3D. Eliminating the need for different devices to perform these tasks, the new Matrox MC -100 addresses all these challenges in one inexpensive, easy -to -use device. The portable unit can be used as an HD -SDI switcher, a distribution amplifier, a multiplexer, and a 3D processing unit, serving as an exceptionally versatile mini converter.

Yale Real Living™ Assure Lock™ with Bluetooth

The new Yale Real Living™ Assure Lock™ with Bluetooth replaces conventional keys with digital keys accessed through the Yale Digital Keys app for Android and iOS mobile devices, and through an app for the new Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch. The Yale app allows homeowners to unlock doors, send keys to others, control when others have access, get a message when someone enters, and revoke a digital key at any time. Unlocking the deadbolt couldn't be simpler, whether using the Samsung Gear S2 or a smartphone. With the new Samsung Gear S2, touch the watch app to activate the digital key, then touch the lock screen to unlock the deadbolt. With a smartphone, Yale's "Twist and Go" technology allows the user to hold the phone vertically when approaching the door, then twist it 90 degrees to unlock the deadbolt. Homeowners can also unlock the deadbolt using its capacitive touchscreen and a four- to eight-digit code.
